Congratulations to the authors for the fantastic work, and for publishing code and weights!
The original DINO, DINOv2 and other Meta models like SAM all have a Apache 2.0 license which is well known and allows the use within commercial applications.
The current custom license of DINOv3 seems to allow for commercial applications, however it is custom and therefore presents risks and requires an ad-hoc review by legal representatives.
This has the potential to limit or even prevent the use of this work in industrial settings, which would be a pity.
Any chance the license can be changed to a more standard Apache 2.0 or other open-source license?
I made a similar case for DINOv2 and the license was accordingly changed to Apache 2.0.
