@fadeltd fadeltd released this 27 Sep 15:47
baff918

First release of Xiaomi Debloater: remove MIUI and HyperOS bloatware, ads and telemetry from Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO phones over ADB. No root, no bootloader unlock.

Highlights

  • 640 MIUI / HyperOS packages with plain-English descriptions and a safe / caution / danger rating, covering MIUI 12–14 and HyperOS 1, 2 and 3
  • Package list updates without a new release: press Update list to get the latest bloatware.json from this repo
  • Reversible: Uninstall removes an app for your user only (pm uninstall -k --user 0); restore it any time from the Removed tab
  • Disable, Enable, Uninstall and Restore per app, or bulk uninstall with a confirmation; danger packages need a second click
  • Filter by Bloatware, OEM, System, User, Disabled and Removed, or search
  • Built-in Guide tab: setup, what to remove first, privacy settings, and packages you should never remove
  • Shows phone model, MIUI or HyperOS version and Android version

Before you start

  1. Install ADB
    • macOS: brew install android-platform-tools
    • Windows: winget install Google.PlatformTools
    • Linux: sudo apt install adb
  2. On the phone: Settings > About phone, tap MIUI version or OS version 7 times, then turn on Settings > Additional settings > Developer options > USB debugging.
  3. Connect by USB and tap Allow on the phone.

First launch

The app is not code-signed yet, so your OS will warn you the first time:

  • macOS: unzip and move the app to Applications, then open it once. When macOS blocks it, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway (on macOS 14 and older you can instead right-click the app and choose Open). If macOS says the app is damaged, run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/xiaomi-debloater.app.
  • Windows: if SmartScreen says "Windows protected your PC", click More info > Run anyway. Windows 10 and 11 already include the WebView2 runtime the app needs.
  • Linux: needs GTK 3 and WebKitGTK 4.1 (Ubuntu 22.04+, Debian 12+, Fedora 35+). On Ubuntu/Debian: sudo apt install libgtk-3-0 libwebkit2gtk-4.1-0. Then tar -xzf xiaomi-debloater-v1.0.0-linux-amd64.tar.gz && ./xiaomi-debloater.

Stay safe

Start with the Bloatware tab and packages marked safe. Leave danger packages alone: removing them can break calls, SIM, Settings or booting. Found a missing or wrongly labelled package? Report it.
