GazBoard for Android 2.7.1 (build 3)
Brings Android up to date with desktop 2.7.1. The Canvas menu now highlights the size you tap the moment you tap it, instead of waiting for the page to rebuild. Also in this build, arriving from desktop 2.7.1: the Canvas panel (renamed from Format background), the option to reuse a canvas for new boards, a warning with a one-press fix when a page change leaves work off the paper, pens that keep the colour you give them, and a page that no longer slides sideways out of the window.
Build 1 and 2 were withdrawn — build 1 predated these changes; build 2 failed its device tests.
GazBoard for Android, built from the 2.7.1 board code.
Install: Download the .apk and open it on your phone. Android will ask you to allow installation from this source, that is normal for an app that does not come from the Play Store.
Runs on this device. No account, no sign-in, no cloud.
GazBoard v2.7.1
GazBoard 2.7.1
Fixes canvas size with persistent canvas preferences for new boards.
What's Changed
- Fixed horizontal panning on fixed-size pages so sheets stay centered when they fit and cannot be dragged beyond their edges when zoomed in.
- Kept vertical movement unchanged for fixed pages, while infinite canvases continue to pan freely.
- Fixed window resizing so fixed-size pages automatically return to the center.
- Pens now remember their own custom colour and effect after switching between pens.
- Updated the pen tray to show each pen's actual current colour and correctly track the selected pen even when multiple pens share the same colour.
- Number-key pen shortcuts now work correctly with recoloured pens.
- Reset to defaults now restores the complete pen tray configuration.
- Fixed the Canvas panel so size and related controls update immediately when canvas settings change.
- Added an on-board warning when items fall outside a fixed sheet, with a one-click option to bring them back onto the page.
- Added Use this canvas for new boards to remember the current canvas size, colour, and pattern for newly created boards.
- Existing boards are never changed by the saved canvas preference, and disabling it restores the default new-board canvas.
- Renamed Format background to Canvas.
- Applied the shared fixes to Android as well, with dedicated Android coverage.
Windows installer, portable build, Linux AppImage, and .deb below. The portable build keeps its data in a GazBoard-Data folder beside the .exe, so it runs from a USB stick without leaving anything on the machine.
Special note for macOS users
macOS users will get a refusal or damaged file error and must follow a simple manual step to bypass installation restrictions. Please read the fix here.
The web version lives at https://gazboard.fahim9778.workers.dev — same boards, same .gazboard files, no install.

GazBoard v2.7.0
GazBoard 2.7.0
Copy and paste finally behaves the way you expect — across desktop, touchscreen, and Android.
And the little hitch on the first pen stroke after moving around the board? That should be gone too.
Copy and paste, across boards
Ctrl/Cmd+C/X now actually copies/cuts GazBoard object(s), and Ctrl/Cmd V pastes object(s).
Pen performance
- Reduced the small hitch that could occur on the first pen stroke after panning, zooming, changing pages, or opening a board.
- GazBoard now prepares the board snapshot while idle instead of waiting until the pen touches down.
- Multiple quick board movements are collapsed into a single rebuild.

GazBoard v2.6.9
GazBoard 2.6.9
- Emoji on the board. 235 of them, searchable — type "tick", "arrow", "idea". Stamp one, resize it, rotate it, same as anything else. No font downloaded, still works on a plane.
- Grouping. Ctrl+G ties things together; a house made of triangles and squares now moves as a house. Ctrl+Shift+G unties it.
- Named groups. Call one Solar, another Wind, another Testing. The name sits on the group's outline so a finished poster explains itself.
- You can see what is grouped. A faint dashed ring round every group, clearer on the one you are touching. Locked things wear a dotted ring, so "why won't this move" has an answer on screen.
- Ctrl-click picks several things. It claimed to before; it did not. Holding Ctrl now gathers objects on every tool and every pointer — mouse, stylus, pen tool included — and a drag over empty board with Ctrl held adds a boxful instead of throwing away what you had.
- Escape means never mind. Abandons a shape mid-drag, puts down a tool you armed by accident, and puts a half-dragged object back where it started. It hands you back whatever you were using, not always Select.
- The cloud shape is a cloud. It was five circles in a trenchcoat.
- Settings → Canvas has a switch for the group outlines, for boards that get busy.

GazBoard for Android, built from the 2.6.10 board code.
Install: download the .apk and open it on your phone. Android will ask you to allow installing from this source - that is normal for an app that does not come from the Play Store.
If you already have a test build installed, uninstall it first. It was signed with a different key and Android will refuse to replace it.
Opening board files: .gazboard and .openboard are GazBoard-specific formats, not Android-wide registered document types. Open downloaded or received board files from inside GazBoard using Open board. GazBoard does not register as a general Android file viewer, so it will not appear in Open with for PDFs, images, installers, or other unrelated files.

GazBoard v2.6.7
GazBoard v2.6.7
A small but important release — mostly cleaning up how GazBoard handles updates across Desktop and Android.
GazBoard now treats Desktop and Android as separate update channels.
- Windows / macOS / Linux follow the normal
vX.Y.Zreleases. - Android follows its own
android-X.Y.Z-vNreleases.
So one platform should no longer confuse the other platform's release as its own latest update.
For v2.6.7 only, you may also see the Android APK attached to the normal v2.6.7 release. That is just a one-time compatibility bridge for older Android builds.
Future Android builds will stay under their own Android releases.
Installing
Windows
Download either:
GazBoard-Setup-2.6.7.exefor the normal installationGazBoard-2.6.7-portable.exeif you want to run GazBoard without installing it
The portable version keeps its own boards, pictures, settings and window state beside the portable executable.
macOS
Download the correct .dmg for your Mac:
- Apple Silicon — M1 / M2 / M3 / M4
- Intel — older Intel-based Macs
Open the .dmg and drag GazBoard into Applications.
GazBoard is not Apple-notarized yet, so macOS may block the first launch.
If that happens:
System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway
You should normally only need to do this once.
Linux
For Ubuntu / Debian:
sudo apt install ./gazboard_2.6.7_amd64.debFor other distributions, download the AppImage:
chmod +x GazBoard-2.6.7.AppImage
./GazBoard-2.6.7.AppImageAndroid
Download:
GazBoard-2.6.7-android-v1.apk
Open the APK on your phone and install it.
Android may ask you to allow installation from your browser or file manager. That is normal for an APK downloaded outside Google Play.
The .aab file is for Google Play distribution and cannot be installed directly.
Going forward
Desktop releases will look like:
vx.y.z
Android releases will look like:
android-x.y.z-v
Each platform now checks only its own release stream.
So future Desktop and Android releases can be published separately, together, or almost at the same time without juggling GitHub's single Latest release.
