Vehicle applicability coverage — FAPI

Coverage measurement of the FAPI applicability database, taken on 31 August 2026. Applicability is the recorded link between a part number and the vehicles it fits. This repository publishes how much of that data exists, broken down by vehicle kind and by make. It does not contain the applicability links themselves.

The numbers come from a full count, not an estimate.

The unit of applicability is the modification (320d, 2.0, 120 kW, saloon, 2005–2010), not the model. A part number is linked to a modification, which is why a diesel and a petrol car of the same model year resolve to different parts.

Passenger cars and light commercial vehicles are close to complete. The youngest segments — electric motorcycles at 42%, electric commercial vehicles at 79% — are partial, and this is stated here rather than discovered after a purchase.

Links to units other than a vehicle

Some parts, mostly in the commercial-vehicle segment, are linked to an assembly instead of a whole modification. Those links are counted separately.

Files

One CSV per vehicle kind in data/, plus summary.csv with one row per kind. UTF-8, comma-separated, header on the first line.

Column Meaning
make_name Make, as spelled in the catalogue
modifications_total Modifications of that make in the database
modifications_linked Of them, modifications carrying at least one applicability record
applicability_records Number of applicability records

In engine.csv, axle.csv and cv-producer-id.csv the second column is targets_linked — engines, axles or manufacturer ids carrying applicability — and there is no modification count.

Makes with applicability_records = 0 are kept on purpose: they answer "is this make in the database at all", which is a different question from "is it covered".

How to read the numbers

  • A missing link means "no record", not "the part does not fit". A part may physically fit a vehicle the database does not link it to. On a product card, stating what is recorded is the honest option.
  • Coverage is measured against modifications present in the database. A make absent from the database is absent from these files too.
  • The measurement is dated. The database grows; a later snapshot will be published here with its own date.

The product

The applicability data itself is a commercial product by FAPI: a list of vehicles per part number, with fitment conditions, delivered as a marketplace-ready export, Excel, or SQL.
