HitmanAbsolutionVR v0.0.50 — experimental prerelease

First public release of the native stereo OpenXR mod for Hitman: Absolution.

  • Same-frame native stereo, first/third-person headset tracking and runtime-recommended eye resolution.
  • Motion-controller firearm aiming, independent dual-gun firing, tracked held items and controller-directed throwable aiming.
  • Stereo HUD, optional body hiding, visible laser dot, horizon lock and controller recenter/view shortcuts.
  • Automatic stereo-screen menus and Point Shooting, plus visibility and planar-reflection corrections.
  • The left-eye held-item walking correction is headset-confirmed and supported by a 240-pair GPU capture.

Install

  1. Download HitmanAbsolutionVR-0.0.50.zip below and extract it into a permanent folder outside the game installation.
  2. Close Hitman, run Install Hitman VR.cmd, and select the game folder or its retail folder.
  3. Connect your headset, start the OpenXR runtime, and run Launch Hitman VR.cmd.
  4. Keep Stereoscopic 3D enabled. Press F9 to recenter in gameplay.

Only GOG HMA.exe 1.0.447.0 (x86 DX11) is supported. The installer checks its hash and preserves an existing INI. Keep the extracted mod folder for launch and rollback. The ZIP includes the compiled x86 proxies and x64 OpenXR host; no game files are included.

Status and limitations

This is an experimental release. Earlier builds had rare spatial-update crashes. Version 0.0.50 avoids extra render-side hand-transform notifications and defers restoration to the game's update callbacks. Native-routine, ownership, lifecycle and firing checks pass, but this mitigation has not established extended gameplay stability.

Some fog/effects can still look wrong in stereo, the menu mouse cursor can be invisible, and weapon/level/cutscene coverage is incomplete. Full sniper-scope integration, two-hand support grips and collision-aware roomscale are not validated features. See the player guide for controls and configuration.

The release preserves the installed 0.0.50 native binary pair. Release packaging passed 12 isolated installer/upgrade/launcher/rollback checks. All archive files have SHA-256 checksums; matching source is available at this tag under LGPL-2.1, with third-party notices retained.
