WpfVisualTreeMcp.Automation C# NuGet SDK: attach by
PID, reusable scoped AutomationId locators, typed inspection/input methods,
exact text/property waits, predicates, cancellation and actionable timeouts.
Bundles the Inspector and native injection payload; no MCP/CLI process required.
Supports recording/replay and standalone xUnit export referencing the SDK.
Package-consumer tests exercise .NET 8 x64 and .NET Framework 4.7.2 x86 targets,
delayed TextBox changes, inspection, actions and fresh-process exported tests.
Share process management and IPC between MCP, CLI and the SDK. Capability-gated
optional AutomationId resolution lets SDK waits retry absent controls without
hiding ambiguous IDs or recording polling requests as workflow steps.
Cross-architecture helpers ignore the test runner's generic DOTNET_ROOT,
preserving architecture-specific overrides, so xUnit can attach to x86 apps.
Helper startup failures now include the actual runtime error.
Target all input actions, assertions and property edits directly by automation_id
in MCP or --automation-id in the CLI: click, move, scroll, drag, touch (tap,
hold, pan/swipe, zoom/pinch, rotate), selection, text and keyboard input,
with optional root_handle / --root scope. Exact, case-sensitive matching;
missing, ambiguous or incomplete searches fail before input. Drag also accepts target_automation_id / --target-automation-id, with independent destination scope.
Recorded actions retain stable selectors for replay and exported tests.
Filter find, find-deep and wait-for by AutomationId, including recorded
workflows and exported tests. Older Inspectors reject the feature with restart
guidance instead of silently ignoring the filter.
Distribution and upgrade
Publish the MCP/CLI tool and C# SDK as separate NuGet packages, both versioned
0.18.0. Release CI verifies the installed SDK and its exported tests before publishing.
SDK exports reference the generating package's version automatically. Portable,
full/compact MCPB and Codex plugin distributions include the shared automation engine.
Restart MCP clients and previously inspected apps after upgrading to reload the
Inspector. The SDK requires .NET 8+ on Windows; use an x64 test process to automate
both x64 and x86 apps. Native gestures require an interactive desktop and app support.
