dj-digger 1.2.1 — desktop end-to-end fixes
dj-digger 1.2.1 fixes the problems found while testing the 1.2.0 desktop preview end to end. Windows and Mac installers are available below; no Python or terminal commands are needed for these downloads.
Download the desktop preview
| Computer | Download |
|---|---|
| Windows 11, Intel/AMD 64-bit | Windows installer |
| macOS 15+, Apple Silicon | Apple Silicon DMG |
| macOS 15+, Intel | Intel Mac DMG |
Please read the installation guide before opening the installer. These are unsigned desktop previews from a free, open-source hobby project. Windows may flag an unrecognized publisher; macOS packages do not have Developer ID signing or Apple notarization. Keep your computer's security protections enabled.
What's fixed
- Add playlist in the desktop works again for playlists, single tracks and saved HTML pages.
- Store accounts opens only the Bandcamp sign-in, treats Cancel as a cancellation, and offers to download a missing browser runtime instead of failing.
- Deleting local files can no longer remove a file when a symbolic link to it was selected; every file is checked before any is deleted.
- Title-only scan matches can be previewed locally in both interfaces, and Download never marks such a guessed file as owned.
- Settings keep an empty email empty after a restart, in the desktop and the terminal app.
- Audio export: Replace originals no longer asks for a destination folder, and a partial export names the file that failed and why.
- Clearer messages: CSV summaries are identified as export-only, the Soundiiz 200-track limit is reported on its own, and a failed SoundCloud sign-in browser names causes the app can diagnose.
- The terminal app plays downloaded files from disk instead of streaming them again.
Python / terminal users
The package is still dj-sc-digger on PyPI; the command is dj-digger. Update with the same package manager used for installation. The desktop entry point dj-digger-gui is available with the gui extra. Close all running copies before upgrading; your library, settings and account data are kept.
Preview limitations
Automated tests cover startup, packaged media decoding and analysis, bundled browser startup and installer operations. Manual desktop end-to-end rounds on Linux confirmed the fixes above, and audible playback plus the installed app on Windows and macOS were checked by hand. Signed-in account flows, download gates and screen readers were not tested, and no live account or purchase tests were performed for this release.
See the changelog for details.
Verification
- Local offline suite: 984 passed, 83 live/provider tests deselected; isolated wheel install and pip/pipx/uv name-migration checks passed.
- Cross-platform CI: Python 3.12, 3.13 and 3.14 on Linux, macOS and Windows.
- Desktop build and runtime checks: the installers below come from this run; their build manifests name commit 47b5a5f.
