dj-digger 1.4.0 moves every browser step into your own browser: download gates, Bandcamp and Beatport carts and the SoundCloud sign-in now run through the new dj-digger browser extension instead of a bundled Chromium. Gates finish in the background, carts fill up in your real store accounts, and the desktop got a big round of interface work plus German, Spanish, French, Italian and Russian.

Download the desktop preview

Computer Download
Windows 10 (version 1809 or newer) or Windows 11, Intel/AMD 64-bit Windows installer
macOS 15+, Apple Silicon Apple Silicon DMG
macOS 15+, Intel Intel Mac DMG

Then install the browser extension: dj-digger in the Chrome Web Store (Chrome, Brave, Edge — Edge asks to allow extensions from other stores). The app's Settings → Connect browser… links there too. Firefox users load it as a temporary add-on for now (see the installation guide).

Please read the installation guide before opening the installer. These are unsigned desktop previews from a free, open-source hobby project. Windows may flag an unrecognized publisher; macOS packages do not have Developer ID signing or Apple notarization. Keep your computer's security protections enabled.

What's new

  • Browser extension instead of a bundled Chromium: gates, carts and SoundCloud sign-in use your own browser and the accounts you are already signed in to. The installers no longer carry a browser.
  • Gates in the background: Hypeddit and ToneDen gates finish without any browser window; only gates that really need you (a CAPTCHA, a first Spotify consent) are offered to you first, and Download results explains every failure in plain words.
  • Real store carts: tracks go into your Bandcamp cart and your Beatport cart (exact track only, revalidated before each click, never a checkout). Store security checks that clear themselves are waited out.
  • Toolbar panel in the browser: play, pause, skip and seek the app's player, see and cancel the running job, answer gates that need you, and import a SoundCloud playlist or profile from the page you are on (or right-click → Dig in dj-digger).
  • First start: a Welcome screen imports every playlist of your SoundCloud profile at once, then sets up downloads and the browser.
  • Desktop: store and gate pills you can combine, status/BPM/key/genre filters, a fuller right-click menu, range selection that behaves, a spectral waveform with a drop marker and hot cues, a sidebar with folder/playlist menus, counts, drag and drop and playlist export, a Playback menu, keyboard focus rings, toasts and a high-contrast theme.
  • Languages: German, Spanish, French, Italian and Russian next to English and Polish.

Python / terminal users

The package is still dj-sc-digger on PyPI; the command is dj-digger. Update with the same package manager used for installation. playwright is no longer a dependency; run dj-digger browser register once and install the extension. The desktop entry point dj-digger-gui is available with the gui extra. Close all running copies before upgrading; your library, settings and account data are kept. The old store-browser/ and soundcloud-browser/ profiles in the data folder are no longer used and can be deleted by hand.

Preview limitations

Gates, carts, sign-in, the toolbar panel, closing or reloading the browser mid-run, two browsers at once and site-access changes were tested live on Fedora with Chromium and Firefox. Windows and macOS installers were built and tested on CI runners only; the extension was not yet tested live on Windows or macOS. A gate that needs a CAPTCHA did not occur during testing, and signing in with a browser that is signed out of SoundCloud was not tested.

See the changelog for details.

Verification

  • Local offline suite: 1107 passed, 78 live/provider tests deselected; specification map check, lint, wheel build and package check passed.
  • Cross-platform CI: Python 3.12, 3.13 and 3.14 on Linux, macOS and Windows.
  • Desktop build and runtime checks: the installers below come from this run; their build manifests name the release commit cf826ae.
