dj-digger 1.4.1 fixes SoundCloud previews. In October 2026 SoundCloud stopped offering MP3 streams, so in 1.4.0 every preview failed with "SoundCloud did not offer a supported MP3 stream". 1.4.1 plays SoundCloud's AAC streams instead.

Browser extension: dj-digger in the Chrome Web Store (Chrome, Brave, Edge). The extension is unchanged (1.4.2); you do not need to reinstall it.
Please read the installation guide before opening the installer. These are unsigned desktop previews from a free, open-source hobby project. Windows may flag an unrecognized publisher; macOS packages do not have Developer ID signing or Apple notarization. Keep your computer's security protections enabled.
What's fixed
- SoundCloud previews play again. The player prefers MP3 when a track still has it and otherwise plays the best AAC stream (HLS, fragmented MP4), decoded by FFmpeg in memory. Seeking and the waveform work as before.
- Streams from SoundCloud's new host
playback.media-streaming.soundcloud.cloudare allowed. - DRM-protected (encrypted) streams are never played; such a track says it is DRM-protected instead of showing a generic error.
Python / terminal users
Update dj-sc-digger with the same package manager used for installation. SoundCloud previews now need FFmpeg on your PATH (the Windows and macOS installers bundle it); without it the app says so.
See the changelog for details.
Verification
- Local offline suite: 1115 passed, 78 live/provider tests deselected; lint, wheel build and
twine checkpassed. Playback was checked end to end against live SoundCloud (resolve, decode, seek, waveform) on two tracks. - Cross-platform CI.
- Desktop build and runtime checks: the installers below come from this run; their build manifests name the release commit 64748bf.
- Known: the opt-in live tests still expect MP3 from SoundCloud and fail until they are rewritten for AAC; they do not cover the shipped code path.
