Deonyx 0.2.2
Deonyx now tells you when a new version is out.
What's new
- A green dot on the tray icon when a new version is ready, and the tooltip says so.
- Update in one click from the top of the tray menu, the tray window or the settings. Nothing installs until you click.
- Deonyx looks for new versions every few hours, not only when it starts. Turn it off under General > Updates.
Install
Older versions offer the update when they start, or right away with Check now under General > Updates. Or download Deonyx_0.2.2_x64-setup.exe below and run it: it installs over the old version and keeps your settings. Deonyx isn't code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen may warn you: click More info, then Run anyway.
Windows on ARM (experimental)
Deonyx_0.2.2_arm64-setup.exe is for ARM PCs, like Snapdragon laptops and the Surface Pro X. It hasn't been tried on an ARM PC yet, so tell us on Discord how it goes. The x64 installer runs there too, a little slower.
Stream Deck
Deonyx-1.0.0.streamDeckPlugin is the same plugin as before (Stream Deck 7.1 or newer).

Deonyx 0.2.1
A friendlier settings window.
What's new
- Settings in pages. A side menu takes you to Apps, Look, When, Profiles, Tools, General and Advanced, instead of one long page. The window opens where you left it.
- See a look before you use it. The Look page shows a sample window, half as it is and half with Deonyx, and changes as you pick a style, the warm tint or readable text. The photo in it keeps its real colors, like in your apps.
- Profiles keep your changes apart. Changing something no longer rewrites the profile in use. The profile gets a dot, and Save changes or Undo decides.
- Advanced now holds the command line, diagnostics and the settings file.
- In a narrow window, controls move under their text instead of squeezing it.
- Fixed: a hotkey left half-recorded no longer swallows typing on another page, and names with "&" show up right in the tray menu.
Install
Deonyx 0.2.0 offers the update by itself. Or download Deonyx_0.2.1_x64-setup.exe below and run it: it installs over the old version and keeps your settings. Deonyx isn't code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen may warn you: click More info, then Run anyway.

Deonyx 0.2.0
Deonyx 0.2.0 is the biggest update yet. It keeps photos in their real colors, gets profiles, a Paper style, a Stream Deck plugin and a lot more.
What's new
- Photos stay photos. Pictures and videos inside a window are found as they appear and keep their real colors.
- Peek. Hold Ctrl+Alt+P to see every window in its real colors until you let go.
- Profiles. Keep setups like Day, Night or Presenting and switch in one click, from the settings, the tray, a Stream Deck key or the command line.
- Paper style for long reading, and faint gray text now stays readable.
- Share in real colors. Screen sharing and screenshots can show the real colors, always or only while Zoom or Webex shares or OBS, Streamlabs or XSplit runs.
- Steps aside for games. Darkening pauses by itself while the games or programs you pick are running.
- Sunset to sunrise where you live, and on battery it can keep going, save power or pause.
- Each screen its own look, or none at all.
- Keep a part in real colors with one click on a video, a canvas or a preview.
- Your own hotkeys, one for each app if you like, and Ctrl+Alt+W for just the window under the mouse.
- A tray window with quick switches, and quick tasks when you right-click Deonyx on the taskbar or in Start.
- More commands:
--pause 30,--resume,--profile Night,--windowand--status(the state as JSON). - Stream Deck plugin: darkening, pauses, apps, profiles and the window under the mouse on keys that show what's on. Get
Deonyx-1.0.0.streamDeckPluginbelow and open it (needs Stream Deck 7.1 or newer). - Gets back up. If something fails, Deonyx starts darkening again by itself and keeps a report you can copy into a bug report.
- Ready settings for 71 well-known apps, smooth fades, and Windows 10 works without the yellow capture border.
Install
Deonyx 0.1.0 offers the update by itself. Or download Deonyx_0.2.0_x64-setup.exe below and run it: it installs over 0.1.0 and keeps your settings. Deonyx isn't code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen may warn you: click More info, then Run anyway.
Windows on ARM (experimental)
Deonyx_0.2.0_arm64-setup.exe is for ARM PCs, like Snapdragon laptops and the Surface Pro X. It's built from the same code but hasn't been tried on an ARM PC yet, so tell us on Discord how it goes. The x64 installer runs on ARM PCs too, a little slower.

Deonyx 0.1.0
The first release. Deonyx gives any Windows app a dark mode, even the ones that never had one.
What it does
- Flips only how light each pixel is (OKLab), so colors stay right. 3D views, canvases and pictures keep their real colors.
- Darkens the apps you pick, or every light window, with a list of programs it leaves alone.
- Looks: Gray, Black for OLED screens, Soft, and a warm tint for the evening.
- Works always, whenever Windows is in dark mode, or between the hours you set.
- Draw a box over anything that should keep its real colors.
- Click any window to see why it is or isn't dark.
- Ctrl+Alt+F darkens or restores the app in front of you, Ctrl+Alt+D turns darkening on and off.
- Run as administrator to darken apps like Task Manager.
- 13 languages, and it keeps itself up to date.
Install
Download Deonyx_0.1.0_x64-setup.exe below and run it. It installs for your user only. Deonyx isn't code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may warn you: click More info, then Run anyway.
