Release list
Second release
In version v2.0.0, I added several creative, practical features.
1.Natural language time parsing
The user doesn’t have to remember an exact time format and they can write time in a more human way like 6:30 pm or in 2 hours.
I use the dateparser library in a helper function parse_time to convert the input into a standard "HH:MM" string before storing it.
Problem it solves:
Avoids invalid time formats
user-friendly input
2.Background scheduler thread that auto-executes reminders using done attribute + smarter behavior for daily vs one-time reminders
In v1, reminders were only executed when the user chose execute_all.
In v2, I added a background scheduler thread that automatically checks the current time and executes reminders at their scheduled time.
I implemented this using threading.Thread with a daemon thread that runs a loop, compares now with each reminder’s time, and triggers the alarms.
Problem it solves:
Makes the app behave like a real reminder system.
User doesn’t have to manually execute reminders at the exact time.
3.Sound notification when a reminder triggers
whenever a reminder run from the scheduler or from manual execution, the program prints the ASCII bell character \a.
This usually makes the terminal play a short beep sound, so the user is notified even if they are not looking at the screen.
Problem it solves:
Silent reminders can easily be missed.
A sound draws the user’s attention to the reminder.
