The lean core, packaged. First release of CHAOS as an installable thing rather than a repository you copy.

CHAOS makes an AI agent stop once before it writes code — and remembers what you decided, so it can catch the change that contradicts you six weeks later. Measured on a real client codebase at ~1.1× the cost of not asking (evidence, with caveats).

What's in 0.2.0

  • Claude Code plugin — the 5 commands (/chaos:init, /chaos:run, /chaos:resume, /chaos:doctor, /chaos:help), all skills and agents; this repository doubles as its plugin marketplace.
  • @ferrexd-chaos/interaction-mcp on npm — the durable decision runtime (file-backed, repo-local, zero telemetry) as a single pre-bundled file; the plugin wires it via npx automatically.
  • CHAOS Decision Center VS Code extension (publisher ferreXD) — one-click answering of pending decisions; the .vsix below works air-gapped.

Versions are lockstep: plugin = npm = extension = this tag.

Honest footnotes

  • 0.1 was the "apparatus" era — a much larger lifecycle system this project measured against real terrain and deleted (tag apparatus-final). What remains is what the data endorsed.
  • The evidence base is n=3 tasks, one operator, one codebase; the strongest rival (a plain "ask me first" instruction) has not been run — the evidence page ships that rival as a challenge kit.
  • Time-to-first-stop is not yet printed anywhere because it has not been measured on a cold machine yet; it will be, and the measured number is what gets published.
