Coding agents are fast, but they start before you've agreed on the approach and finish with changes nobody really reviewed. Coppice puts the agent CLIs you already use (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode and Kilo Code) on a ticket board on your own machine, with no Coppice account. By default, every ticket waits for you twice: you approve the plan before work starts, and you accept the diff before it merges.

In this release

  • Plan Review. When a ticket moves to Ready, its assignee writes a plan, and you approve it or ask for changes before work starts. Planning never changes your ticket's code. Turn on Skip planning for tickets that don't need a plan.
  • Human Review. Every change waits for you as a diff in the app. A ticket reaches Done only when you accept it, and what you accept is exactly what merges. If an agent adds commits after your review, you review again.
  • Merge conflicts. Coppice stops without changing anything, lists the files that conflict, and offers to ask the ticket's assignee to resolve them. You accept the ticket again before it merges.
  • Plugins. Plugins give agents skills and MCP tools. On each plugin card, choose All agents or check specific agents.
  • Your CLIs, as you set them up. Coppice runs each CLI with the same PATH and settings your terminal uses, however you open Coppice. The model picker lists every model your CLI offers, and Refresh models updates the list.
  • Windows 11. Coppice runs through WSL. Follow the Windows 11 steps.

Install

Coppice bundles its own database and server, so you don't need Docker or Postgres. Agents run on your machine, so first install Git and the agent CLIs you plan to use (for example claude or codex) on the host and log in to each of them.

macOS (Apple silicon: mac-arm64, Intel: mac-x64)

  1. Open Coppice-<version>-mac-<arch>.dmg and drag Coppice to Applications.
  2. Launch Coppice from Applications. The first launch takes a few seconds while it creates its database.

This build is not signed by Apple. macOS will say Coppice "can't be opened" or "is damaged". The reliable fix is to run once:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Coppice.app

Alternatively, after the first blocked launch open System Settings → Privacy & Security, click Open Anyway next to the Coppice message, and confirm.

Linux (Ubuntu 22.04+ / Debian 12+, amd64 or arm64)

sudo apt install ./Coppice-<version>-linux-<arch>.deb

To update, quit Coppice and run the same command with the newer .deb. Your boards and settings stay. Ubuntu's App Center may keep showing the old version as installed, so use the terminal. To remove Coppice, run sudo apt remove coppice-desktop.

Then start Coppice from your applications menu, or run coppice.

Your data

Boards, settings and logs live in ~/Library/Application Support/Coppice on macOS and ~/.config/Coppice on Linux. Uninstalling the app leaves them in place.
