AeroCheck 4.0.0 - Redesigned Cockpit & Map-First Flight Planning
AeroCheck 4.0.0 is the biggest overhaul yet — the entire app has been redesigned around a cleaner, cockpit-style interface, rebuilt iPad-first (with iPhone close behind), plus a brand-new map-first flight planner and an iPad↔iPhone second screen.
New Features
Redesigned In-Flight HUD
- One-glance hierarchy: the current checklist item is the hero; past and future steps recede.
- Cockpit instrument strip: live speed, altitude, heading and vertical speed with a color-blind-safe on-target bar, plus stall and instrument-failure annunciations.
- Tappable phase bar: jump forward and back through the 16 phases from a single segmented bar.
- One-tap reference panels: V-Speeds, GPS status, and departure/approach briefings open as a docked panel on iPad or a bottom drawer on iPhone.
- Hold-to-confirm events: Go-Around, Touch-and-Go and Full-Stop sit behind a deliberate hold, with a brief undo.
Map-First Flight Plan Builder
- Build routes on the map: drag a waypoint to move it, drag the route line to insert one, and release near an airfield to auto-snap (name and frequency filled in automatically).
- From → To bar and route thumbnails on the plan list, with one-tap Activate.
- Interactive route profile: terrain silhouette and planned-altitude line; drag a point to set its altitude; on-route airspace conflicts and terrain-clearance warnings update live.
- GPX route export for Dynon/Garmin avionics.
Companion Mode (iPad ↔ iPhone)
- Second screen over Wi-Fi Aware: pair an iPhone as a synced viewer of your iPad's live flight data. (Requires iOS 26 on both devices.)
Display & Accessibility
- Three-way Night Mode: Off / On / Follow System.
- Accessibility throughout: VoiceOver labels, Dynamic Type support, 44-point touch targets, and Reduce Motion across the redesigned screens.
Improvements
- iPad-first layouts: two-column landscape and reflowed portrait across Home, Flight, Navigation, Flight Log and Settings.
- Refreshed Navigation, Flight Log and Settings with the new cockpit design language and Liquid Glass map controls on iOS 26.
- Apple Watch: live flight-data refinements, including the correct next phase in Circuit Mode.
- A hidden groove: tap into the right funk and you might just spook a little color out of hiding.
- Smoother maps: faster nearby-airport and airspace updates, with lighter map-tile and GPS-track rendering during flight.
- Reliability: iCloud flight conflicts are merged instead of overwritten, large flights sync without UI hitches, and terrain data never falls back to a misleading sea-level value.
- French localization pass across the new interface.
Bug Fixes
- Airspace check honesty: the route planner now shows a green "no conflicts" only when airspace data is actually loaded — otherwise it tells you airspace wasn't checked, instead of a false all-clear.
- Crash-safe airspace data: downloads are written atomically, so an interrupted update can't corrupt the cache.
- Estimated airspeed is now hardened against bad wind readings.
- Terrain warning no longer false-triggers when only one waypoint has a planned altitude.
- Companion: the viewer returns to standalone cleanly when the flight ends.
- iPad: Speed References slides in full-screen again from Home.
- iPhone: the in-flight phase label and timer no longer overflow the top bar.
- Plus broader stability and polish across the app.
Compatibility
- Requires iOS/iPadOS 17.0 or later. Companion mode requires iOS 26 on both devices.
