AeroCheck 4.1.0 builds on the 4.0 redesign with worldwide aeronautical data that stays current, a reimagined iPhone companion — now a true "wingman" that can even lend its GPS to a Wi-Fi-only iPad — a new pay-once Lifetime plan with a free trial, and a friendlier first run.

New Features

Worldwide Aeronautical Data

  • New map layers: navaids (VOR / DME / NDB), obstacles, and VFR reporting points, downloaded per country.
  • Richer airports: OpenAIP is now the primary airport source, merged with OurAirports for more current positions, frequencies and runway details (surface, PCN, declared distances).
  • Magnetic declination by location for truer planned courses.
  • Reporting points in briefings: nearby points fold into your departure and approach briefings.
  • Data that tells you when it's stale: a freshness indicator and a gentle nudge when something is out of date, an on-map cue for aging airspace, and trip-aware prefetch that offers the data for the countries your route crosses — all managed from a new Data & Storage hub.

Companion "Wingman" (iPad ↔ iPhone)

  • Two modes, swipe to switch: a track-up NAV screen with a next-waypoint hero, and a synced CHECKLIST screen — auto-switching by flight phase.
  • Synced control: advance the checklist or reveal hidden items from either device; both screens match themes (day / sunlight / night).
  • Shared GPS: a Wi-Fi-only iPad with no GPS can run the whole flight off your iPhone's GPS. (Requires iOS 26 on both devices.)

  • Lifetime — a new one-time purchase: pay once, yours forever.
  • 7-day free trial on the yearly plan for eligible accounts.
  • Redesigned paywall with clearer plans and a header that names the aircraft you are unlocking.

Refreshed Onboarding

  • A rebuilt first run: enable location, download the recommended maps and data for your region (and its neighbours), set your checklist preferences, and tour the in-flight features — then you are ready to fly.

Improvements

  • Smoother premium unlock: aircraft reliably unlock right after purchase, and Lifetime access is never gated by the offline re-check.
  • Current without the battery cost: datasets refresh in the foreground instead of running background tasks.
  • Companion reliability: automatic connect when both devices are ready, with cleaner drop and reconnect handling.
  • Faster map data: airport loading does less redundant work at flight start.
  • French localization across the new screens.

Bug Fixes

  • Deleted flights stay deleted: a flight deleted on one device no longer reappears on another after relaunch.
  • Tougher data parsing: one malformed record can no longer wipe a whole country's navaids, obstacles or reporting points, and an out-of-range coordinate can no longer crash airport loading.
  • Companion: a connection you have torn down can no longer resurrect itself mid-connect.
  • Onboarding: subscribing now takes you straight to "You're ready".
  • Paywall: existing subscribers can now buy the Lifetime upgrade.
  • Settings sync: developer and marketing modes no longer switch themselves off when settings sync between devices.
  • Privacy: the app no longer writes your position to its diagnostic logs.
  • Accessibility: the stale-airspace badge and the onboarding page indicator now read correctly with VoiceOver.
  • Plus broader stability and polish.

Compatibility

  • Requires iOS/iPadOS 17.0 or later. Companion mode and shared GPS require iOS 26 on both devices.
