AeroCheck 4.3.0 is a correctness release. A full review of the checklist data found — and fixed — stall speeds that were plainly wrong on five aircraft and an entire missing checklist block on a sixth, all of which reach you automatically. Alongside that: wind becomes a real planning input instead of a guess, Sunlight and Night finally re-theme the screens you actually fly with, and a long list of quiet failures now speak up instead of showing a reassuring green.

Checklist Data Corrections

These arrive automatically — no app update needed. Every corrected checklist was verified against its club document or AFM.

  • Stall speeds corrected on five aircraft. Several listed the rotation speed where the stall speed belonged. The Dakota (HB-PMP) was the one that mattered most: it read 60 kt when the clean stall is 65, so the in-flight speed readout showed green in a band where the aircraft is stalled. The CAP10 (HB-SAX) had been declaring a stall speed above its own approach speed, which lit a permanent below-stall warning through every approach. Also corrected on the Warrior (HB-PNL), the Saratoga (HB-PJE), the Piper L-4 (HB-OKN) and the Super Cub (HB-ORV).
  • A missing checklist block restored. The Warrior II (HB-PNL) was missing its entire CHECK BEFORE TAXI section — 11 items including fuel selector, mixture, carburettor heat, primer and the seats/belts/door check. The app had never shown any of them.
  • A lost magnetos step restored. On the Sportcruiser (F-HPSA), the English checklist had collapsed two steps into one, so an English-speaking pilot was never prompted to set both magnetos ON before cranking the starter. The French version was correct.
  • Invented items removed. Five items across two Pipers had no counterpart in either club document. On screen they carried the same authority as the real ones.
  • Taxi checks now prompt while taxiing. On the Cadet (HB-OJI), the taxi check — brakes, compass, gyro — was being prompted after you had already stopped at the holding point, though the compass check needs an actual turn.
  • French and English now match on every aircraft, phase for phase.

New Features

Winds Aloft for Flight Planning

  • Flight-plan leg times are now wind-corrected from forecast winds aloft: a leg into wind is properly slower than its reciprocal, so your ETAs mean something. Worldwide coverage, served through a dedicated weather endpoint.

A Cockpit That Actually Re-themes

  • Sunlight and Night now apply across the navigation map chrome, the in-flight HUD and the checklist — previously the setting changed almost nothing outside the instrument strip, despite promising high contrast for bright cockpits.

Improvements

  • Briefing wind works again. The MeteoSwiss feed had been returning nothing since the dataset was renamed, so departure and approach briefings had silently lost their wind. Station selection now weighs altitude as well as distance, so a valley station is not chosen for a mountain airfield.
  • Airports without OurAirports. With only OpenAIP data downloaded for your region, the app showed no airports and no frequencies at all. OpenAIP now works as a standalone source.
  • Accessibility. In-flight controls are operable with VoiceOver, and status is no longer conveyed by colour alone — checklist items, phase states and GPS quality all announce in words. Larger touch targets on the phase bar, and small HUD labels support the system's Large Content Viewer.
  • Live Activities now reconcile with the system on relaunch and mark themselves stale after ten minutes, instead of presenting hours-old data as current.
  • Flight Log rows are tappable across their whole width, not only on the text.
  • Faster, lighter maps: airspace lookups use the spatial grid, map queries are bounded, and OpenAIP tiles for deselected countries are now evicted instead of accumulating forever.
  • Security hardening across the app: streamed network responses with a real size ceiling, validated Companion peer data, stricter deep-link and storage handling, and CI actions pinned to commit SHAs.

Bug Fixes

  • Premium content stayed locked in TestFlight. Builds could not verify their subscription — the UI showed "Lifetime access" while every premium checklist remained unavailable.
  • Flights failed to sync to iCloud with a "record to insert already exists" error; the CloudKit change tag is now preserved so updates apply.
  • No more false all-clear on terrain. The flight-plan builder showed a green tick for a terrain check that never ran when elevation data was unavailable. It now distinguishes "checked, clear" from "not checked".
  • Deleting a flight is confirmed rather than destroyed outright on a swipe.
  • Apple Watch now receives live data even when the Watch app was not already running when the flight started.
  • Companion mode could not present its dual-mount prompt during a flight.
  • The paywall's Terms link worked again, and purchase errors no longer surface raw technical text.
  • The rotate-device overlay no longer covers an active flight or navigation screen.
  • The estimated airspeed readout and its stall warning are gone. The app has no pitot or angle-of-attack source, and a surface wind reading cannot describe the air at altitude — the error was wide enough to be actively misleading near the stall. Wind is now a planning and briefing input, which is what the data can honestly support.
  • The WT9's fallback speeds had drifted from the corrected AFM figures and are back in step, with a test that keeps them there.
  • Plus corrected Watch frequencies, safer flight-plan exports, and a broad pass on silent failures in flight persistence and GPS status.

Compatibility

  • Requires iOS/iPadOS 17.0 or later. Live Activities appear on the Lock Screen on all supported devices, and in the Dynamic Island on iPhone 14 Pro and later. Companion mode and shared GPS require iOS 26 on both devices. Briefing wind is Switzerland-only; winds aloft are worldwide.
