v0.4.0
Photos that carry an EXIF orientation tag no longer open on their side — and rotating, copying, renaming, deleting and animation arrive alongside the fix.
Photos land the right way up
Avalonia's decoder ignores the EXIF orientation tag, so a portrait phone photo has always opened sideways in Atelier. That is fixed as part of rotation rather than beside it: all eight EXIF orientations and every rotate and flip are one value, and the tag is simply where that value starts.
Saving bakes the turn into the pixels and clears the tag — leave the tag behind and the next open turns the picture another 90°.
Rotate and flip
Edit → Rotate Right / Rotate Left (R, Shift+R) and Flip Horizontal / Vertical.
Rotation is non-destructive. The picture turns on screen and nothing reaches the disk until you save, with a prompt before you navigate away from an unsaved turn.
Clipboard
Ctrl+C puts the picture on the clipboard as pixels, as the file and as its path at once — so it pastes into Paint, an Explorer window and a text box alike.
Ctrl+V opens an image from the clipboard, preferring a copied file over loose pixels so you keep the original rather than a re-encode.
Rename and delete
F2 renames, keeping the extension if you type a bare name.
Del moves the picture to the Recycle Bin and shows the next one. There is no permanent delete — Del sits next to the arrow keys you navigate with, so a mis-tap stays recoverable.
Animated GIF and WebP
Animations play at the frame delays the file asks for, and Space pauses. Files are measured before decoding, so a very long animation falls back to a still first frame instead of filling memory.
GIF and AVIF also join the formats Next/Prev will walk to — Atelier could always display them, so skipping them was a gap rather than a decision.
Zoom
Ctrl+0 fits to the window, Ctrl+1 is actual size, Ctrl+± steps the zoom.
Note on an existing shortcut
Ctrl+S now saves the picture, since a rotation can leave it unsaved. Save As has moved to Ctrl+Shift+S.
Edit Image is unavailable for animated files, which a save would otherwise flatten to a single frame.
98 new headless tests, 199 in total.
