1. Revision History

2. Introduction

This document aims to describe the details of "FGA Tactics", as its basics mechanics, rules, objectives and environment.

3. Game View

3.1 Game Logline

FGA Tactics is a board game with based-turned strategy RPG elements.

3.2 Description

The game takes place in a university, where two players are leaders of student armies. The players choose their pieces according to a graduation course of the college. After positioning the armies, the players start a turn-based battle to eliminate all opposing pieces, attacking or protecting themselves in every turn.

4. History

Unce upon a time, at a university located in the Cerrado Village, the college matters registration process was kinda messy. It was hard times, the class shortage made the students increasingly violent. Therefore, each university course began to cluster like a clan, until the university was totally divided. To bring an end to the war, the clan leaders proposed a final tournament, where two clans, each time, fought. The winner gets the maximum priority in the classes.

5. Gameplay

5.1 Description

Each match has a pre-game phase, where the player choose the army that will fight by (Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Eletronic Engineering, Energy Engineering and Software Engineering). After this choice, the first player positions half of its pieces, respecting the rules of maximum pieces quantity. Then the second player arranges all of its warriors. Lastly, the first player finishes the positioning of the last half of his pieces. When both players are ready, the board is showed.

5.2 Controls

The controls are performed through mouse clicks. The players can define the initial positioning of their pieces according to the strategy, and move them in agreement with their interest and space availability.

5.3 Rules

When starting a match, the player chooses which courses it will battle for (Software, Aerospace, Energy, Eletronic or Automotive). Then, the player prepares a 10-piece deck (mandatory) from all 15 pieces available (6 specific, 9 generic).

Deck Elaboration: Each player alternately positions its pieces (following the rules described in 5.1), on the 8x10 spaces board. Initial Positioning Area: 3 columns for each player.

During each turn, the player can perform ONE of TWO possible actions:

  • Walking: A piece can only be moved in a straight line according to the maximum number of houses defined for that piece. If the piece, finished its movement, reaches an enemy, it can immediatly attack it.

  • Attacking: If a piece range reaches an enemy, it can perform an attack. It will cause damage to the enemy piece, in proportion to the involved pieces status.

5.4 Combat Rules

Each piece has a mininum and a maximum attack values. When attacking an enemy piece, the damage will be a random value within the minimum and maximum attack values. If the damage is 0, it is considered that the attacker missed the attack.

Every piece, when attacked, has a defense percentage value that will, proportionally, reduce the damage suffered.

The players have, each, 120 seconds to make their actions.

5.5 Victory Condition

The first leader to defeat all enemy army, wins.

6. Pieces Detailing

All pieces of the game will have the following basic status:

  • Life
  • Atack
  • Range (in squares)
  • Defense (in percentage)
  • Amount of movement (in squares)
  • Penality
  • Hability

6.1 - Description of common pieces

Each player will choose a unique major course that provides pieces with specific abilities. However, three common pieces will be available to both players. Being them:

  • Freshman: This piece does not have any specific hability. Attacks only nearby enemies with their fists and is able to walk medium distances to reach the college.
  • Engeneer: The progress on the common body disciplines of the course changed some warriors freshman in engineers, confused in the decision of their course, still attend showcase disciplines. They are capable to calculate trajectories and attack at distance their opponents with a medium damage thanks to their study of physics and calculus. However many hours of study to conclude three periods, reduced their movements in comparison to the freshman.
  • Professor: Experienced for their big classrooms, the professors are influential pieces that can hit in various enemys with a good sildeshow and dark rooms, they can cause somnolence in a few adversary pieces. They walk short distances between classrooms but cause big direct damage (principally to the IRA) and medium damage in area.

6.2 - Description of Aerospace Engineering pieces

  • Propulsion expert: Says the legend that are few those who reach this level of knowledge in this field. Some even say that those students moves like the light and travel great distances quickly. This piece haves great amount of movement and is somewhat resistent.

  • Cerrado Elephant: They are boys who chosen dedicate their lifes for a single porpose of building airplanes each time better and faster. This piece attacks trhowing aircraft models through long distances.

  • Satellite projector: This is a very distinct and prepared group, these Chantaísm followers have unusual skills like their complex calculus and their italian fluency (requirement to enter at the group). They can launch rockets that put satellites in orbit, mapping any area of the planet. The informations obtained can be passed to other student who have his vision camp enlarged, allowing this student to walk long distances. This piece can give a buff of attack range to another piece, this buff remains while the piece is alive and can only be active in a unique piece.

6.3 - Description of Automotive Engineering pieces

  • Structural Designer: These witty and very creative warriors have precise abilities to design vehicle structures. A structural designer can help his allies improving their mobility. This piece has a low attack, a good mobility and can give a mobility bonus to thir allies.

  • Baja Pilot: They are audacious racers that attract everyone's attention with their helmets and fireproof overalls, although they can't use their cars in the campus. This piece has low mobility and attack, high defense and life. Besides that, the Baja Pilot forces the near enemy pieces to attack only him (taunt).

  • The Great Welder: This warior never had his indentity reveled because of his welding mask, that has never been removed. Some believe that he use it to hide a big scar caused by an accident with battery acid, others claim that is just because a huge acne problem. This piece has high life and defense, medium attack and medium/low mobility.

7. Game World

The deadly battles are disputed in a inhospitable and uninhabited local (because so does not hurt the population): The FGA. Three maps will be available to set the fights, each one with a unique design. Each map will have random obstacles appearing at the combat area.

7.1 Universitary Restaurant

The Universitary Restaurant presents everything that is expected of a restaurant: tables, horse skulls, savage animals and fires around.

7.2 Professors Building (UED)

At the UED is where the technological arsenal of FGA is concentrated, how can it be observed by the crashed cars at the entrance. In here are located laboratories, tools and all types of engeneering trinket. The map also contains the cleaning helpers, always willing to give you a wash (even before you ask!) with their buckets.

7.3 Students Building (UAC)

At the end we have the UAC. Divided between matches of truco, monitories of calculus and exorbitant prices at de obelisco, the map is a division by himself.
