Major Changes:

  • add Ethereum support: run an execution client (reth, geth, erigon, besu, or nethermind) paired with a consensus client (lighthouse, prysm, teku, nimbus, or lodestar) via nodevin start ethereum (a88c8b4)

Start an Ethereum node by running nodevin start ethereum --checkpoint-sync-url <provider-url> (a public list of providers is available; nodevin ships no default, since which provider to trust is your decision). Pick a different pairing with --execution-client/--consensus-client, or run execution-only with --consensus-client=none. See the CLI docs for ports, stop/delete behavior for the Ethereum stack, and current limitations (testnets are not yet supported).

Minor Changes:

  • publish chain RPC ports on loopback (127.0.0.1) only, keeping peer ports public, for every chain (badbed3)
  • publish the IPFS RPC API and gateway on loopback only (75f134a)
  • extend info/view/request to report peers and latest block for Ethereum Classic, and for all five new Ethereum execution clients (2422826, 04144be)
  • fix a host-port collision between ord and ord-litecoin (both defaulted to port 80), and sort watchtower's monitored container list for a deterministic compose file (ab0267b)
  • add a CI job that runs the real CLI end-to-end on Linux, fixing several Linux-only bugs it caught along the way: Docker Compose plugin detection, --data-dir on stop/delete, .env parsing, and a docker-compose shim that forwards to the Compose plugin (b1eab97, 2c24dba, c9ac7d1)
  • fix nodevin delete failing with permission denied on native Linux (197ec3a)
  • add a test suite and CI (build/vet/test plus a compose-generation smoke test for every network), fixing several bugs the new tests caught, including a view uptime miscalculation and a resource-limit handling bug (294895a, 3dfc45a)
  • fix the release workflow producing empty commit logs in release notes (3c31b14)
  • align the README and docs with the current Nodevin/Fiftysix positioning, re-add the nodevin.xyz link, and add UTM tracking to fiftysix.tech links (81778f7, bf0615b, 8af6d25)
