Note
Finamp has moved to a new GitHub organization!
Since Finamp has long-outgrown its origins as a personal project of @UnicornsOnLSD, we've now created the
finamp-apporg to be its new home. This makes collaboration with many contributors easier for us, and helps us to consolidate many Finamp-related things under one roof.
Nothing should change on your side, and any old links to https://github.com/jmshrv/finamp or https://github.com/UnicornsOnLSD/finamp should continue to work!
Hi everyone!
This is our follow-up to the home screen update, with a ton of bug fixes and some neat new features!
This is the first Finamp release from our brand-new GitHub organization, in preparation for getting all the beta changes into the stable version.
So have a look at the release notes below and enjoy the update!
Caution
Updates on Jellyfin Server Performance
Jellyfin 12.0 has had three release candidates now, at will probably be released to stable within the coming weeks.
Our testing so far has been very positive, with performance appearing to be on par with 10.10.7.
The new modernized layout in Jellyfin is now also active by default, which makes for an improve music experience within Jellyfin in general.
Once Jellyfin 12.0 is released, we recommend waiting around one to two weeks before upgrading, to ensure everything works as expected.
This Finamp update (0.9.25) is fully compatible with Jellyfin 12.0!
The previous Finamp update should work for the most part, though Play On remote control is likely broken there. So you should be using 0.9.25 or later when upgrading to Jellyfin 12.0!

How to join the Beta (click to expand)
The beta is free and open to everyone, but we'd like to get as much feedback as possible. So please do try it out and then let us know what you think!
On iOS, join the beta on TestFlight.
Note
Throughout the release notes you will find links marked with the 🔗 icon; these links will open Finamp to the relevant screen, so that you can play around with any new settings right-away!
Keep in mind that not all of the text in the app has been translated to all languages yet. If you're missing a translation, you can now contribute it on Weblate!
What's New
Jellyfin 12.0 Compatibility
Starting with this release, Finamp should be fully compatible with Jellyfin 12.0!
Older versions should still work fine, with some minor features (e.g. Play On remote control, Quick Connect) being unavailable or degraded.
This update is still fully backwards-compatible down to at least Jellyfin 10.10.7, so feel free to upgrade!
mTLS Client Certificate Support (thanks @Maxr1998!)
Finamp now supports configuring mTLS certificates. If (during login, at the server selection step) Finamp notices that the server is expecting a certificate from the client, it will now prompt you to set up that certificate. Afterwards, you should be able to connect to your server normally.
You can also set this up in the regular app settings, e.g. when manually updating the server URL.
Customize Extra Information on the Player Screen
This has been requested for a while now, but now you can finally configure which pieces of information you want to see on the player screen, and in what order. And just like before, you can also turn off the extra info completely!
We've also update the default info that is being shown, but only for new installs.
Give it a try in the 🔗 Player Screen settings
Customize Included Item Type for 'Random Item' Quick Actions
With the home screen we introduces several "Quick Actions" that allow you to quickly jump into some music. Among these were "Random Track", "Random Album", and "Random Favorite" (the latter of which randomly chose something out of all your favorites).
With this new update, we're replacing these with two more configurable Quick Actions: "Random Item" and "Random Favorite Item". For both of these, you can configure which item types (tracks, albums, artists, playlists, genres) they should include in their random selection, by either long-pressing them on the home screen, or going into the 🔗 Home Screen settings.
Additionally, the random selection is now more balanced, so you have equal chances of Finamp starting, say, a favorite genre (which you probably have few of) versus a favorite track (which you probably have a ton of).
More Consistent Artist Screen (thanks @lukaslindnermusic!)
The sections on the artist screen received another small makeover. You now get a button to see all artist's tracks, a long-awaited feature. In addition to that, you can now sort & filter the list of albums for an artist, to customize your artist page further.
Also, when playing tracks from the "top tracks" section, all remaining tracks coming after the top 5 are appended to the queue automatically, so you can keep listining in the selected order.
There are also some smaller bug fixes in general here.

Upcoming Features
We have a lot of features planned for the future, and we're always open to new ideas. Here are some of the things that we're planning to add:
You can take a look at the full list and current progress in the Redesign project.
We also have a more up-to-date hackathon project board: https://github.com/users/jmshrv/projects/5
If all goes well, the next post you'll see from me here will be flagged as the "Latest" release, and available as a stable release for everyone to use, no beta signup required! That also means F-Droid will finally get updates again.
We're really excited for that; hopefully you are too!
Thank you for using Finamp!
