Scribe 1.2.1

@finereli finereli released this 12 Oct 16:01

English transcripts no longer lose words. macOS's on-device recognizer starts its text over after a pause, and Scribe was keeping only the last part, so long turns came out as their last few words. On two real calls this took the share of words caught from about half to around 90%, close to OpenAI Whisper. Hebrew and Russian weren't affected.

Switch language mid-call. The language menu stays available while recording. The sentence in progress finishes in the old language and everything after uses the new one.

Switch mic mid-call without the menu looking disabled (this already worked; now it looks like it).

Requires macOS 14.2 (Sonoma) or later. Signed and notarized by Apple.

Copying works when you're the only one talking. Copy and the Claude/ChatGPT buttons now include the sentence still being transcribed, and a solo recording copies as plain text, handy for dictating notes without a call.

Send to Claude or ChatGPT. Two buttons in the toolbar copy the transcript with a line of context and open Claude or ChatGPT (the desktop app if you have it, the website if not). A note floats at the top of the screen to remind you to paste.

Install: download the .dmg, drag Scribe to Applications, open it, and allow Microphone, Speech Recognition and System Audio Recording. Requires macOS 14.2 (Sonoma) or later. Signed and notarized by Apple.
