Unkai Mail v0.1.0
Pre-release
Pre-release
Unkai Mail v0.1.0 — first public release
Unkai Mail is a modern, native desktop mail client built on deep Nextcloud
integration. This is our first public build — mail works end-to-end and the
Nextcloud collaboration stack lives right in the inbox. It's early, capable,
and we'd love your feedback.
✨ What's new
This is the initial release, so everything is new. Highlights:
- Real mail, natively — IMAP, SMTP, and JMAP with a full rich-text
compose window, native HTML rendering, and remote-image blocking by default. - Nextcloud, all the way down — Talk rooms, Files (browse / attach / share),
Calendar, Contacts, Notes, and Tasks pulled straight into the client. - End-to-end mail encryption — OpenPGP and S/MIME signing, verification,
encryption, and decryption. - Encrypted at rest — the local mail cache is AES-256 encrypted via
SQLCipher; credentials live in your OS keychain, never in plaintext. - Multi-account with a unified inbox, per-account from-picker, and
autodiscovery for quick setup. - Search that scales — full-text search across your cached mail with an
operator-prefixed query syntax. - Themable and fast — light/dark mode, a curated theme picker, and
localisation (English + German).
⚠️ Known issues
- Unsigned builds. Windows SmartScreen and macOS Gatekeeper will warn on
first launch. Signed builds come once we provision certificates. - No Intel-Mac build yet. macOS ships Apple Silicon (
aarch64) only.
