ARIL 0.4.8 — Session cache management and typing performance

Point release that keeps the local session cache from growing large enough to
slow typing and history, with a status-footer size indicator and one-click
compact/clear actions.

Builds are signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple — no Gatekeeper
workaround needed.

Install

  1. Download ARIL-0.4.8.dmg from aril.host or GitHub Releases
  2. Open the disk image and drag ARIL into Applications
  3. Launch ARIL (Solo mode starts the bundled gateway)
  4. Open Preferences → Subscription to sign in with OpenRouter or paste an API key

If you already have ARIL 0.4.2+, you can also run /update in chat.

What's new in 0.4.8

Session cache

  • Saves strip bulky data:image payloads so sessions-cache.json stays lean.
  • On launch, oversized caches are compacted; if still large, ARIL prompts to
    Compact or Clear.
  • Preferences → General → Session cache exposes Compact and Clear anytime.
  • Status footer shows Cache Size with healthy (muted), ok (yellow), and
    warn (red) colours.

Performance

  • Fresh sessions appear immediately on launch (no wait for gateway bootstrap).
  • Prompt typing no longer publishes the whole app state on every keystroke.
  • Sidebar session rows avoid repeated lookups during redraws.

Requirements

  • Apple Silicon Mac (M-series) with macOS 14 (Sonoma) or newer
  • An OpenRouter API key with a small credit balance
