ARIL 0.4.9 — Spend analysis, Projects, and MCP .env secrets

Point release with spend analysis, prompt-cache controls, sidebar Projects,
slash-command polish, and MCP secrets in Application Support .env.
Playwright Browser MCP was removed after proving too unreliable in practice.

Builds are signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple — no Gatekeeper
workaround needed.

Install

  1. Download ARIL-0.4.9.dmg from aril.host or GitHub Releases
  2. Open the disk image and drag ARIL into Applications
  3. Launch ARIL (Solo mode starts the bundled gateway)
  4. Open Preferences → Subscription to sign in with OpenRouter or paste an API key

If you already have ARIL 0.4.2+, you can also run /update in chat.

What's new in 0.4.9

Spend analysis

  • Top-right toolbar $ opens models used with costs, calendar-month total, and rolling last-7-days total (Learning transactions + local ledger).

Prompt cache on Intelligence

  • Cache metric shows hit / eligible / tokens short of threshold.
  • Exact hits get a one-click Submit; near-matches to a prior cached prompt offer Edit / Submit.

Projects

  • Group sessions into folders in the sidebar.
  • Each project has its own search scope; main search still covers all sessions.

Also in 0.4.9

  • Sidebar Update button when a newer release is available (replaces the upgrade dialog).
  • Export session as Markdown (sidebar, context menu, or /export).
  • Slash /web toggles web search (on/off/status); /cache reports session-cache size with compact / clear.
  • /status includes session-cache health/size and last prompt-cache outcome (same signals as the status footer).
  • Slash /new (alias /session) starts a new chat session.
  • Learning Run Selected Model Test — one prompt per category using Preferences → Models; slide-up shows category, model, and n of 8.
  • MCP secrets in Application Support .env (no Keychain prompts); managed servers rotate their bearer token on every enable.
  • Removed Playwright Browser MCP (local browser automation was unreliable).

Requirements

  • Apple Silicon Mac (M-series) with macOS 14 (Sonoma) or newer
  • An OpenRouter API key with a small credit balance
