v0.2.22

@fkallmer fkallmer released this 25 Aug 22:04

Field-weighted impact can now be filled in. The value used to arrive only as a by-product of an OpenAlex count lookup, and OpenAlex is not in the shipped database order — so on a default install the column stayed blank for every item whose pane had never been opened. Two new entries fix that:

  • right-click selected items → Update field-weighted impact
  • Tools → Fill in missing field-weighted impact for the whole library

Batched fifty DOIs to a request, so a five-thousand-item library is a hundred small requests rather than five thousand large ones. It keeps its own store, which neither expires nor evicts — the previous cache dropped entries after a fortnight and past two thousand items, which made the column's sort order unreliable on any sizeable shelf.

The polite-pool contact address is a setting now (Settings → Orbit → Contact address). Crossref and OpenAlex give faster, higher limits to requests that say who is making them. Optional; leave it empty and Orbit uses the common pool, which is slower but works. This build carries no address of its own, which is the only arrangement that works for a published plugin — a compiled-in address would identify whoever built the release on every request every user makes.

Also: the README finally shows the Citations column and an item pane over a paper you do not need to know; the test project typechecks again; eslint 10.9.0.

Zotero 10 only. Updates arrive through Zotero once installed.

Orbit is a fork of Citation Tally by Dae Houlihan (AGPL-3.0), and its Google Scholar client comes from Justin Ribeiro's GSCC (MPL-2.0).

First public release of Orbit.

Citation counts from five sources side by side, the OpenAlex record behind them
in the item pane, and a citation graph you can walk.

Install: download orbit.xpi below, then in Zotero Tools → Plugins → Install Plugin From File…. Zotero 10 only. Updates arrive through Zotero once
this is installed.

Set a contact address. Settings → Orbit → Contact address is optional but
worth filling in: Crossref and OpenAlex give faster, higher limits to requests
that say who is making them. This build carries no address of its own, so
without one you share the common pool.

Orbit is a fork of Citation Tally
by Dae Houlihan (AGPL-3.0), and its Google Scholar client comes from Justin
Ribeiro's GSCC (MPL-2.0). Both licences travel with the package; see the README
for what changed.

Not a release to install. This tag carries update.json, which is the file
Zotero polls to learn that a new version exists — the update_url in every
built manifest points here.

It moves with each release. Install from the newest v* release instead.
