English

Setup: follow the Getting started guide. You need an Apple Silicon Mac, Rosetta 2 and CrossOver 26.x. Developer tools are no longer needed.

Tested games: see the compatibility list. Tried a game? Send a game report.

The dmg is not signed. Try opening MACxus once, then System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway, or run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/MACxus.app.

Upgrading: replace the app. MACxus switches to the included backend automatically, including if you built one yourself before. On the first launch macOS asks once for Keychain access for the new backend: choose Always Allow. The included backend is signed with a stable certificate, so future updates should not ask again.

What's new

  • Included backend (thanks @zachspartofaday, #4): the Apple Silicon xodus-cli and xodus-service ship inside the app, built from the pinned Xodus source with the MACxus patches. MACxus checks their version, checksums and architecture before using them; if anything doesn't match it asks you to reinstall instead of running them. Settings → Xodus backend → Build backend stays available for developers.
  • GPL: the Xodus backend is GPL-3.0. Its license and complete corresponding source (vendored dependencies and build recipe included) are inside the app under MACxus.app/Contents/Resources/backend/. That is why the dmg is bigger (about 230 MB).
  • Source checks on every change (thanks again, #3): the test suite is fully green on macOS and Linux and runs automatically on GitHub.

Italiano
