Filee 2.0.0 — private build (video editor, Join videos, Linux & macOS)
Unofficial build. The official Filee is at KnifeLemon/Filee.
Built from source of the private-build branch at the tag: upstream main at 799e394 (Filee 2.0.0), plus the private commit, the pixel theme and the video editor. Windows, Linux (x64, arm64) and macOS (Apple Silicon).
What's new since private-1.12.0-3
- Editor mode in Cut a clip (button «Редактор» / "Editor"), a CapCut-like editor:
- several videos, sounds and pictures in a Files panel, or dropped straight on the timeline;
- tracks T (texts), I (pictures), V1, A1, and A2…A8 for sounds; sounds go in a row and move between tracks;
- frame shapes 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:5; video of another shape is shown with bars, cropped or on a blurred background;
- move, resize and rotate the video, pictures and texts right in the preview;
- texts in any system font, with colour, opacity and rotation; pictures (logos, stickers) with size, opacity and rotation;
- transitions, freeze frame, reverse, speed ramps;
- level loudness, noise removal, quiet-speech lift, music ducking under speech;
- right-click menus everywhere, including Remove from project and Reveal in folder for files;
- J/K/L, frame steps, fullscreen, copy / paste / duplicate, undo for everything.
- Export window: presets YouTube 1080p, Shorts / TikTok 9:16, Discord ≤ 10 MB, Telegram ≤ 50 MB; H.264, HEVC, WebM or GIF; size limit; each highlight as its own file.
- Graphics card on by default (NVENC / QSV / AMF / VideoToolbox), in the editor and in ordinary video conversions, with an automatic fallback to the processor.
- Join videos (Склеить видео): drop several videos on it. Videos of one format are joined in seconds without re-encoding; Open in editor adds transitions.
- Window zoom: Ctrl + wheel, Ctrl + / −, Ctrl + 0.
- Based on upstream Filee 2.0.0, which brought Linux and macOS support (by KnifeLemon). This build adds the editor on top of it, so this release also has Linux and macOS packages (tar.gz, see
INSTALL.txtinside), built and fully tested on those systems by the fork's workflow.
What's different from the official build
- No automatic network access: the update check (every 6 h to api.github.com) and the self-updater are turned off. Their HTTP requests fail as if offline, so this build is never replaced by the official installer.
- "Check for updates" is off by default.
What stays, and only happens when you click: engine downloads (official sources, SHA-256 pinned in engines.json), saving files dragged from a browser, and links that open in your browser. The editor reads everything from disk; it needs FFmpeg (Settings → Engines → FFmpeg; on macOS brew install ffmpeg).
Install
- Windows 10/11:
Filee-2.0.0-win-Setup.exe. It installs over earlier private builds and keeps your settings. The installer isn't code-signed, so SmartScreen will warn on first run. Silent install into your own folder without administrator rights:
Filee-2.0.0-win-Setup.exe /SILENT /CURRENTUSER /DIR="D:\Apps\Filee" - Linux (glibc 2.35+, e.g. Ubuntu 22.04+):
tar -xzf Filee-2.0.0-linux-x64.tar.gz, then./install.shinside (no root needed). Dependencies are listed inINSTALL.txt. - macOS 13+:
Filee-2.0.0-osx-arm64.tar.gz(Apple Silicon), then./install.sh. The packages are ad-hoc signed and not notarized: use System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.
Checks
- Windows: all editor tests pass (OfdTests and one FFmpeg progress-timing test also fail on upstream
mainon this machine). - Linux x64 / arm64 and macOS arm64: all tests pass on those systems in the packaging workflow (run).
- Windows Defender (signatures 1.461.137.0) finds no threats in the installer.

The Linux and macOS hashes are in their *-SHA256SUMS.txt files.
- No Intel Mac package this time: its build ran out of the 60-minute CI limit.
Filee 1.12.0 — private build 3 (clip editor: multi-select)
Unofficial build. The official Filee is at KnifeLemon/Filee.
Built from source of the private-build branch at the tag: upstream main at 259c5ec, plus the private commit e3c49a9, the pixel theme and the clip editor.
What's new since private-1.12.0-2
- Select several pieces: drag across them, Ctrl / Shift+click, Ctrl+A; Delete, volume, speed and mute apply to all of them.
- Space always plays / pauses (it no longer presses the button clicked last), "Preparing…" shows while playback starts, and the start of playback no longer stutters.
In private-1.12.0-2
- Cut a clip (Вырезать клип): on the back of the video donut. A small video editor: the whole video on top, the clip as it plays below on V1 (pictures), A1 (the video's sound) and A2 (music from any file).
- Space plays the clip with sound, C cuts at the playhead, Delete cuts a piece out and leaves a gap with a "Close gap" button (Shift+Delete closes up at once), dragging a piece's edge takes back what was cut.
- Per piece: volume (drag its line on A1), mute, speed 0.25×–4×. Fade in / out, Remove silence, undo / redo, magnet snapping, zoom.
- Saved as
<name>_clipnext to the video. One piece without effects is copied instantly without re-encoding. - Proposed upstream: KnifeLemon/Filee#326.
- Pixel theme (Settings → Theme).
- Upstream fixes from this fork, all merged into the original now: KnifeLemon#310, KnifeLemon#311, KnifeLemon#312, KnifeLemon#313, KnifeLemon#315.

- 501 core, 787 app and the media / clip engine tests pass (real FFmpeg 9.0.2 runs included).
- Windows Defender (signatures 1.461.118.0): no threats in the installer.
