Dice Chess TV 0.1.0 beta 5

A playtest build for the tester round. How to install it, what to try and where to send feedback: docs/playtest.md. Owners of a Fire TV Stick with Vega OS can also get it through Amazon's Live App Testing, without developer mode: see Play the beta.

New since beta 4:

• Moves slide to their squares (#131). Each action, the computer's and yours, slides its piece in about a fifth of a second, so an opponent's turn can be followed from the sofa. A captured piece stays on its square until the mover lands. In castling the king and the rook move together, and a promoted pawn becomes its new piece as it lands. If the TV asks for less motion, pieces are placed without sliding.
• The home screen no longer shows the hotseat record (#130). Counts by colour said nothing about who played, because players swap colours from game to game. Your record against each computer opponent stays on its card.

Installed over beta 4, it keeps the game in progress and your results. An older beta cannot be installed over it: the device refuses a lower build number, so going back means removing the app, which deletes its saved game.

Built from 1cddc24 with the Vega SDK 0.24, build number 5. Tested on the Vega Virtual Device. Installed over beta 4, it kept the game in progress, with its remaining dice, and the record against Rampage. A king move slid in about 230 ms, and installing beta 4 over it was refused with "Package version decrease". It has not yet run on a Fire TV Stick.

Dice Chess TV 0.1.0 beta 4

New since beta 3: nothing in the game itself. The package now carries build number 4, where earlier betas carried 0, so that the Amazon Appstore's Live App Testing can take it, and later builds keep counting up. Installed over beta 3, it keeps the saved game, results and settings. An older beta cannot be installed over it: the device refuses a lower build number, so going back means removing the app, which deletes its saved game.

Built from 8ac19fe with the Vega SDK 0.24. Apart from the build number and the package signature, its contents are byte-identical to beta 3. Tested on the Vega Virtual Device: installed over beta 3, it kept the last game and the record against the opponent, and installing beta 3 over it was refused with "Package version decrease". It has not yet run on a Fire TV Stick.

Dice Chess TV 0.1.0 beta 3

A playtest build for the tester round. How to install it, what to try and where to send feedback: docs/playtest.md.

New since beta 2: music. Four themes by pepka-prygni, used with his permission: one for the menus, and one for each level of danger to your king during a game: calm, tense and critical. Settings, in the home menu and in the game menu, replaces the Sound item. It turns the music and the sound effects on or off and sets the music volume. A game saved by beta 2 continues. The music makes each package about 18 MB larger.

Built from 7f62a6f with the Vega SDK 0.24. Tested with the app's tests and on the Vega Virtual Device. Installed over beta 2, it resumes the saved game. A clean install opens on the home menu, and a game against Grabby starts. The device's media log shows the music playing on the home menu and crossfading when a game begins, and Settings and About show the music. It has not yet run on a Fire TV Stick.

New since beta 1: three computer opponents, chosen on cards under Play the computer: Rolly (easy), Grabby (medium) and Rampage (hard). Each card shows your record against that opponent. A game against Random saved by beta 1 continues against Rolly.
