Point release that fixes a lost edit: Trim to Selection now carries through to the final clip.

Fixes

• Trim to Selection now sticks. Trimming the working view and then hitting Process, Copy to Arrangement or → Simpler — without an explicit loop selection — kept the whole original clip and silently dropped the trim. The trimmed region is now rendered as intended in all three.
• Version shown in the panel now tracks the release, so you can confirm at a glance which build Live has loaded.

Install

1. Download clip-tool.ablx below.
2. In Live, open Preferences > Extensions.
3. Drag the file onto the panel, then restart Live.
4. Right-click any audio clip and choose Clip Tool.

Maintenance release focused on long and warped clips, smoother feedback while rendering, and more consistent cropping.

Fixes and improvements

• Smooth processing progress. The progress bar now climbs steadily through the whole render — decode, pitch/time-stretch, and encode — instead of appearing to hang near the start. A moving bar (even a slow one on long files) means it's working.
• Warped clips re-import cleanly. Replacing or copying a warped clip no longer double-warps the result, which previously caused tempo drift and stutter/jitter.
• Consistent cropping across Process, Copy to Arrangement and → Simpler — all crop to an explicit loop selection.
• Sturdier preview. Recovers from a transient decode hiccup instead of going silent for the rest of the session, and reports a clear error if the audio fails to load.
• Clip guard runs after time-stretch, catching overlap-add overshoot as well as gain overshoot.
• Faster editor open on long clips (avoids an extra in-memory copy of the rendered audio).

Working with long stems — what to expect

• Opening the editor on a long stem takes a moment. Live renders the clip's audio before the waveform can be shown, so there's a short pause between choosing Clip Tool and the editor appearing. This is normal — it's preparing the waveform, not frozen.
• Pitch and time-stretch on long files take time to process. These are the heaviest operations; the longer the clip and the larger the pitch shift, the longer the render. Watch the progress bar — steady movement means it's working.

Clip Tool v1.0.0

First release of Clip Tool, a free audio clip editor that runs inside Ableton Live 12.

Right-click an audio clip and choose Clip Tool to:

• fold stereo to mono (sum, left, right or side), the thing Ableton can't do natively and a lifesaver for phase-y breakbeats
• remove DC offset, trim on zero-crossings, and add fades
• pitch shift, and time-stretch to a target BPM while keeping the loop seamless
• send the result straight to a Simpler

Nothing is destructive. Every edit is written to a new file in your project's Samples/Imported folder.
