MeteoBaras v0.4.1

Choose a tag to compare

@fosron fosron released this 20 Jul 12:31

Fixed

  • The app could appear frozen/unresponsive shortly after launch (most noticeably, "Open in meteo.lt" seemed to do nothing). The new Launch at Login feature in v0.4 checked its status via SMAppService synchronously on the main thread every time the menu rebuilt — that XPC call can be slow, especially for ad-hoc-signed builds, and was blocking the whole UI. It now runs in the background instead.

Installation

  1. Download MeteoBaras-v0.4.1.zip below and unzip it
  2. Move MeteoBaras.app to your Applications folder
  3. This build is signed with an ad-hoc (self) signature, not a paid Apple Developer ID, so Gatekeeper blocks it with a "could not verify" warning on first launch. Clear the quarantine flag from Terminal:
    xattr -cr /Applications/MeteoBaras.app
    Or go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway next to MeteoBaras (try opening the app once first so the entry appears there).

Added

  • Launch at Login — toggle from the menu, using macOS's SMAppService API
  • Icons on the Open in meteo.lt, Refresh, and Launch at Login menu items, matching the system-added Quit icon

Changed

  • The humidity/wind/pressure/cloud-cover row is now a 2x2 grid instead of a single cramped row of 4

Installation

  1. Download MeteoBaras-v0.4.zip below and unzip it
  2. Move MeteoBaras.app to your Applications folder

MeteoBaras v0.3

@fosron fosron released this 20 Jul 08:05

Fixed

  • Weather icons weren't showing for many conditions, most visibly rain. The icon mapping was built against a generic set of condition-code strings (moderate-rain, thunderstorm, etc.) that don't actually match meteo.lt's API. Real codes like plain rain and thunder had no matching case and silently fell back to a ? icon. The mapping now covers the full set of condition codes documented by api.meteo.lt across both the forecast and observation endpoints (rain, thunderstorms, sleet, freezing rain, hail, snow, snowstorm, squall, and their variants).

Installation

  1. Download MeteoBaras-v0.3.zip below and unzip it
  2. Move MeteoBaras.app to your Applications folder
  3. This build is signed with an ad-hoc (self) signature, not a paid Apple Developer ID, so Gatekeeper blocks it with a "could not verify" warning on first launch. Clear the quarantine flag from Terminal:

MeteoBaras v0.2

@fosron fosron released this 17 Jul 13:01

Changes since v0.1

  • Less aggressive refreshing — opening the menu no longer refetches from the API on every click. Weather now updates automatically every 15 minutes in the background, plus on launch, on location change, and on demand via the Refresh item.
  • Added an MIT LICENSE file to the repo.
  • README now includes a screenshot and instructions for downloading and running an unsigned release build.

Installation

  1. Download MeteoBaras-v0.2.zip below and unzip it
  2. Move MeteoBaras.app to your Applications folder
  3. This build is signed with an ad-hoc (self) signature, not a paid Apple Developer ID, so Gatekeeper blocks it with a "could not verify" warning on first launch. Clear the quarantine flag from Terminal:

  • 8-hour forecast grid — compact, two-per-row hourly forecast with icon and temperature

  1. Download MeteoBaras-v0.1.zip below and unzip it
  2. Move MeteoBaras.app to your Applications folder
