Roster without GitHub account information

It would be helpful if the roster did not require any information about the GitHub account, but only, for example, the student’s surname and first name. In our educational organisation, students often use a private GitHub account unknown to the teacher at the time of registration.
It would be even better if, as in GitHub Classroom, students who are not on the roster could also accept the assignment invitation. This would be particularly useful in our flexible educational setting, where students can enroll at different times and in different ways.

As of version 1.31.0, we added support for email invitations. Once a student accepts the GitHub organization invitation sent via Classroom 50, we can automatically associate the student's GitHub username with their invited email address (doesn't have to be their GitHub email). This should address most teachers' concerns, as previously we only supported invitations via GitHub username.

Since Classroom 50 is a client-side-only app, at a minimum, your students must already be members of your GitHub organization before they can accept an assignment. We don't foresee this changing in the near future.
