Music tracks have been simplified to remove some volume change events. Some tracks - notably D_E1M8 - make a lot of continual volume adjustments that take up a lot of space. Reducing the number of them that is barely noticeable and reduces the IWAD size by over 60KiB.
LZMA compression is now used for UPX compressed .exe files.
The self-extracting .lzh archives now use -lh6- compression.
E1M9 has been rebuilt with ZokumBSP to reduce its size.
Missing Player 3/4 start points got added back to levels.
There are now "poor man's" weapons for the 1-level WAD that make things marginally more playable if you use the cheats to give yourself all weapons.
The build system was radically overhauled: a Makefile is now used instead of a shell script, and the different WADs are assembled in a more modular way that starts from a minimal "kernel" WAD and adds to it.
SKY1 is now built from a smaller patch.
BRICK02 and BRICK03 have been merged into a single texture.
