Hemingway tells you where your writing is hard. FralRater tells you who it's too hard for — and shows you the fix.

FralRater is a 100% offline desktop app that scores your text for specific
readers, maps exactly where readers get lost, and rewrites the hard parts —
all locally, with zero network calls and no AI. Your text never leaves your
machine.

What's in 0.1.0

  • Analyze — Flesch-Kincaid grade, reading ease, Gunning fog, SMOG,
    jargon count + per-100-word density, long-sentence & passive-voice
    ratios, hard-word percentage
  • Audience — fit scores for 8 reader personas (child, general public,
professional, executive, patient, developer, legal, academic) with
    per-paragraph confidence bars
  • Lost Reader map — difficulty curve showing exactly where sentences
    get hard
  • Rhythm heatmap — monotonous / choppy / varied sentence-length patterns
  • Actionability — does the text tell the reader what to do next?
  • Accessibility — flags jargon-heavy and passive-heavy text
  • Rewrite — offline rule-based rewriting: passive-voice flip,
buried-lead fix, jargon swaps, sentence splitting, sentence-by-sentence
    diff, and Before/After grade cards
  • Compare — two-version radar chart + head-to-head metric table
  • Standalone desktop window (Electron) with right-click Cut/Copy/Paste
  • Voice-note input (Chrome/Chromium Web Speech API)
