SharpEmu Fran6: GTA V now reaches the game menu!
Fran6 builds on the rendering progress achieved with Fran5: Grand Theft Auto V now completes its introduction and reaches the game menu; this is the first time this milestone has been reached on SharpEmu.
Significant work from the community and me has gone into CPU execution, TLS and memory handling, HLE compatibility, AGC command processing, Vulkan synchronization and rendering stability. Fran6 also preserves the Astro Bot progress achieved in previous releases.
This is an important step forward, although neither game is fully playable yet and several graphics, stability and performance issues remain.
Highlights
- GTA V now completes its introduction and reaches the game menu
- Fixed a critical TLS instruction-patching issue that corrupted the guest call stack
- Improved CPU execution and preservation of guest registers
- Improved memory handling required by the RAGE engine
- Expanded HLE and NID compatibility
- Improved AGC command-buffer processing
- Improved Vulkan synchronization, queue scheduling and frame presentation
- Preserved the fluid, synchronized Astro Bot intro introduced in Fran5
- Updated with recent upstream improvements
- Existing Acelogic-derived fixes and previous Fran releases preserved
Known limitations
- GTA V reaches the menu but is not yet playable
- Astro Bot text, menus and 3D rendering remain incomplete
- Rendering accuracy, stability and performance still require substantial work
- Performance may vary depending on hardware and graphics drivers
- Some AMD, Steam Deck, Linux and macOS configurations require further testing
- Crashes, missing graphics and incorrect behaviour are expected
- This remains an experimental development build, not a stable PS5 emulator
Thank you to the SharpEmu contributors, Acelogic, testers and everyone in the community sharing knowledge, logs, research and feedback.
Fran6 brings GTA V to its game menu while preserving Astro Bot’s rendering progress. With Fran7, the focus will be on improving rendering, stability and performance, and continuing towards gameplay in both Astro Bot and GTA V.
