Changes
- Added opt-in per-book reader settings, word-spacing levels, automatic page turns, bounded queued page-turn input, cross-page dictionary/highlight selection, chained dictionary navigation, and CSS small-caps rendering for Latin, Greek, and Cyrillic text.
- Added selectable QWERTY, AZERTY, QWERTZ, Spanish, and Cyrillic keyboard layouts with UTF-8-safe editing; Quick Lock as a short power-button action; PNG browsing; and nearby file or same-book reading-position transfer with receiver consent and end-to-end validation.
- Added disk-backed natural file indexing, bounded XTCH streaming and cover rendering, safer ZIP/EPUB parsing, on-disk OPF lookup, transactional CSS caches, and lossless sparse compression for all 77 built-in font headers. Release-mode firmware is about 445 KiB smaller than 1.5.0.24.
- Hardened upgrades and SD-card failure handling: settings, state, credentials, OPDS, recent books, favourites, achievements, statistics, flashcards, bookmarks/highlights, reader progress, web uploads, font uploads, and nearby transfers now verify temporary writes and retain a recoverable committed copy. Legacy
settings.bin, BookmarkStore v1-v5, existing JSON schemas, stable book identities, and four/six-byte progress files remain supported; new settings default to the previous behaviour. - Added or updated interface text across all 23 language catalogs and expanded host regression coverage from 48 to 203 tests. Both
defaultandgh_releaseESP32-C3 builds pass; physical validation remains requested for e-ink timing, radio transfer, and power interruption during real SD writes.
