MCP Docs 0.2.29
The desktop app for macOS (Apple silicon) and Windows (x64). It opens a folder on your computer as its library and edits the files in place.
New in 0.2.29
- Find a file (⌘P, Ctrl+P on Windows): a search button in every editor's header. Before you type it lists the files you last opened in the app; typing searches every folder by name. Enter opens the file, Open (or ⌘/Ctrl+Enter) opens it in a new tab.
- Rename from the title in every editor, pictures, PDFs and text files included: click the file's name in the header and type.
- Follows changes made by other apps: the file list updates when files are added, removed or renamed in the folder, and an open file reloads when another program (or an agent) changes it on disk.
- Folders fold away in the file list: a folder's folders are one row you open when you need them, so the files are right there.
Install
Easiest: run npx @freeflow-im/mcp-docs in a terminal (Terminal on a Mac, PowerShell on Windows); it installs or updates this app and the Claude Code and Codex plugins. Or by hand:
On a Mac:
- Download
MCP-Docs-0.2.29-mac-arm64.zipand unzip it. - Move MCP Docs to Applications (replacing the older version) and open it.
- The app is not notarized by Apple, so macOS stops it the first time ("Apple could not verify…"). Click Done, then open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway next to MCP Docs. On macOS 14 and earlier, right-click the app and choose Open instead.
If macOS still won't open it, run this in Terminal and open it again:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/MCP Docs.app"
Intel Macs are not supported by this build.
On Windows:
- Download
MCP-Docs-0.2.29-win-x64-setup.exeand run it. - The app is not signed, so Windows SmartScreen stops it ("Windows protected your PC"). Click More info, then Run anyway.
MCP Docs 0.2.28
The desktop app for macOS (Apple silicon) and Windows (x64). It opens a folder on your computer as its library and edits the files in place.
New in 0.2.28
- Open in Finder (File Explorer on Windows): in a file's and a folder's menu in the list, the folder button's menu, and each editor's File menu.
- Drag files out of the app into other apps (CapCut, Finder, Mail…): dragging a file from the list hands over the file itself. Dropped on a folder in the list, it still moves there.
