ClimApp now with exploration possibilities

ClimApp Theme Day, October 28th, Lund

This version of ClimApp has not been made available on Google Play, that is why you have to download it from here to try out the new functionality.

How to install

  • Download this file on your Android device.
    • If you get the screen shown below when you click on the link, open the page in Desktop view (click on the text marked in red)

On the new page you have the ability to Download (using the button in the mid-section to the right, marked in red) the file, which is exactly what we want.

  • When the file is downloaded, open it on your device - your smartphone will recognize the file type and ask you for permission to install it on your device.

Remember that this file only is compatible with Android phones with an API level >= 19 running Android 4.4 or above.

If you don't know which version of Android you are running, follow this guide to find out.

How to use

When you open the app, you will be presented with a series of onboarding screens (to personalize the app). When you have gone through them, follow these steps:

  • To enable you to input custom coordinates in the app, navigate to the Settings pane and enable the Explore setting, as shown below:

  • When this is done navigate back to the Dashboard pane. Now you should see a new view like the one indicated in red below:

Description of view

  1. This is where you will input your desired latitude and longitude if you don't know the coordinates for your desired city/location, use the link provided in 2).
  2. Use this link in order to find your latitude/longitude coordinates from the desired city name
  3. When you have input the coordinates from 2) correctly in 1) in the app, press Explore to use your coordinates in order to fetch weather data.
