BubbleFacts 2.0 beta: the desktop app. Download it, open it, and click through a short setup. No Terminal needed.

New in beta.2: the overlay now connects when OBS loads it as a Local file (in beta.1 it never did), and the window no longer comes back blank from the menu bar.

Stream Facts Overlay 1.0.0 (command line)

Looking for the app? Stream Facts is now BubbleFacts, a desktop app for Mac, Windows and Linux with no Terminal needed. Download the 2.0 beta at https://bubblefacts.frolic.org.

Known issue in 1.0.0: if OBS loads the overlay as a Local file, it never connects. Use the Browser source's URL option with http://127.0.0.1:3000/obs-overlay instead, or use the 2.0 beta, which fixes it.

The first public version.

When you play a song from your StreamerSongList queue, game-style dialog boxes pop up on your stream in OBS with true facts about it. The facts come from the song's Wikipedia article, and each one is checked against that article before it reaches your stream.

Download: stream-facts-overlay.zip below, then follow the setup steps. It takes about 15 minutes the first time.

What's in it

• Fact bubbles for video game music, classical, film scores and pop, each checked against Wikipedia
• Example fact packs by genre for songs Wikipedia doesn't cover, to use as they are or replace with your own
• Facts about your own compositions, from your song list
• A LIVE LEARN banner for requests that aren't on your list
• A free AI on your own computer (Ollama), or a free or cheap online one (Groq, Anthropic, OpenRouter, Gemini)

You'll need

OBS Studio 28+, Node.js 20+, a StreamerSongList account, and one of the AI options above. Every download link is in the README's Quick links.

The helper scripts are for macOS and Linux. On Windows the overlay itself works; see the Windows note in the setup steps.

Good to know

Nothing is saved between streams, facts are only as good as Wikipedia, and it's English-only for now. Details are in Good to know.

This was written with Claude Code, directed and tested on a live piano stream. How it was built.
