v0.2.2 — one-command setup with svelte-devtools init

Choose a tag to compare

@fsodano fsodano released this 06 Sep 09:16

Svelte DevTools 0.2.2 adds one-command setup for fresh and existing Svelte 5 and SvelteKit apps.

  • New svelte-devtools init setup command: adds the DevTools host and plugin to Vite config and creates a development-only SvelteKit hook. Preserves generated adapter and compiler options inside sveltekit(...). Supports --dry-run, is idempotent, and leaves dynamic configs or existing custom hooks untouched with pointers to manual setup.
  • Installation docs now start with the setup command (npm install -D @fsodano/vite-plugin-svelte-devtools@0.2.2 @vitejs/devtools@0.4.8 + npx svelte-devtools init), with manual Vite config and server-hook instructions retained.
  • Panel no longer reports agent state editing as unavailable; matches the nine implemented MCP tools.

Validation: 572 unit tests (including 10 setup regressions), 12 Chromium end-to-end tests, stress, SSR/SQLite, and production-isolation checks, five package release-gate checks, packed-tarball consumer tests, and a fresh sv create verification with type check and production build.

Install: npm install -D @fsodano/vite-plugin-svelte-devtools@0.2.2

Svelte DevTools 0.2.1 completes the npm packaging and documentation for the Svelte 5 and SvelteKit debugging tools introduced in 0.2.0.

  • Fix runtime and panel asset resolution when installed from npm outside this repository.
  • Include standalone package READMEs, MIT licenses, setup examples, and agent MCP instructions.
  • Show a real Todo save trace with request and SQL span timings, the executed SQL template, and a recorded walkthrough.
  • Align runtime, HTTP API, MCP, and package versions.

Validation: 562 unit tests, 12 Chromium end-to-end tests, real SvelteKit SSR and SQLite checks, a 1,000-component lifecycle check, production isolation checks, and clean package-consumer tests. Published tarballs are checked against their registry integrity values.

Svelte DevTools 0.2.0 — SSR and SQLite traces

283daac

Svelte DevTools 0.2.0 adds correlated SvelteKit request, server-fetch, and opt-in SQLite query traces. Network now displays SQL templates, actual execution timings, row counts, safe error codes, and request waterfalls with resizable details.

Streaming SSR injects once, concurrent requests remain isolated, and production previews remain uninstrumented. The Todo example supports proper action failures and native forms without JavaScript.

Validation includes 561 unit tests, 12 Chromium regressions, real SSR/SQLite API/MCP/UI checks, production previews, and the 1,000-component lifecycle check.

This is a source release. npm publication follows in 0.2.1 with clean-consumer packaging verification.

Svelte DevTools 0.1.1

This patch keeps long-running Network sessions bounded and completes the final Svelte analyzer review.

  • Retain up to 500 requests across client and server history.
  • Expire Clear markers with the retained source buffers and prevent overlapping server polls.
  • Preserve cleared history across subsequent polls while allowing new requests to appear.
  • Record the official local Svelte analyzer results for 27 changed Svelte files, with source hashes and contextual dispositions. Source analysis requires no upload; the previous external-analysis assumption is corrected.

Validation: 532 unit tests, 12 Chromium tests, zero Svelte check errors/warnings, all five workspace builds and package gates. The new browser regression makes 525 actual requests and checks the 500-row cap, authenticated API visibility, and persistent Clear behavior. Test timeouts remain unchanged.

See #20 and docs/validation/svelte-autofixer-review.md for the review record. Existing 0.1.0 compatibility and feature boundaries remain. No npm package was published.

Svelte DevTools 0.1.0

Svelte DevTools 0.1.0 adds reliable component inspection and developer/agent workflows for Svelte 5.20+ on Vite 8.

  • Distinct mounted component identities, layout/page ancestry, and per-instance element inspection.
  • Live JSON state editing with instance isolation, undo/redo, and safe read-only display of functions and other non-JSON values.
  • Nine MCP tools with authenticated session discovery, bounded inspection, and acknowledged live state edits.
  • Working browser fetch mocks, request-to-rule creation, source editor navigation, persistent Settings, and resizable inspection panels.
  • Streaming-safe request tracing, large-cache sync, and indexed component trees.

Validation: 528 unit tests, 11 Chromium integration tests, zero Svelte check errors/warnings, all five package gates, actual SvelteKit Spring undo/redo, Pokédex 20-instance inspection, Todo SQLite CRUD/panel QA, configured editor launch, and live 1,000-component lifecycle cleanup. See the completion register and CI for evidence and local stress measurements.

This is an early-development release. Runtime MCP reads require an authorized open panel. Instrumentation covers component source; standalone rune modules and precompiled libraries are outside scope. Mocks apply to browser fetch, not SSR or XHR. The Svelte 5.20 floor has compiler coverage; a full minimum-runtime matrix, Safari, and Firefox remain untested. The external Svelte autofixer was blocked by automatic approval review; local compiler and browser checks passed.

The Git tag and GitHub release do not publish packages to npm. Registry publishing remains a separate maintainer action through the gated release script.

Implementation and review: #19 (supersedes #18).
