Releases: fzachman/ScenicSoundManager
Release list
ScenicSound Manager 0.9.5 (beta)
What's new in 0.9.5
- New: ScenicSound Manager for Windows (beta). Download the
-windows.zipfile below; it needs the 64-bit version of VLC. Install steps are under Installation. - macOS: no changes to the app in this release. The macOS download is now named
-macos.zip.
Installation
macOS
- Download the
-macos.zipfile below, unzip it, and drag ScenicSound Manager.app into your Applications folder. - Install VLC if you don't already have it — the app uses it for audio playback (it will prompt you with a download link if it's missing).
- First launch: macOS will refuse to open the app because it isn't code-signed yet. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click "Open Anyway", then confirm. You only have to do this once.
- On macOS Sonoma (14) or earlier you can instead right-click the app and choose Open.
Windows (beta)
- Download the
-windows.zipfile below. Right-click it, choose Extract All…, then open the extracted ScenicSound Manager folder and run ScenicSound Manager.exe. Keep the.exenext to its_internalfolder — to put the app somewhere else, move the whole ScenicSound Manager folder. - Install the 64-bit version of VLC if you don't already have it — the 32-bit version won't work with this app (it will prompt you with a download link if it can't find VLC).
- First launch: Windows SmartScreen will warn that the app is unrecognized because it isn't code-signed yet. Click More info, then Run anyway. You only have to do this once.
Upgrading from an older version? Back up your library first (File → Back Up Database…) so you can roll back to the old version if anything goes wrong, then quit the app before replacing it (the app in Applications on macOS; the whole ScenicSound Manager folder on Windows). The app also snapshots your database automatically before upgrading its format, but your own backup is the sure thing.

Stream Deck plugin (optional)
Have an Elgato Stream Deck? The ScenicSound Manager Stream Deck plugin gives you physical buttons for scenes, playlists, and soundboard sounds. Grab the newest release from that page and make sure remote control is enabled in the app (Settings… → Enable remote control — on by default).
ScenicSound Manager 0.9.4 (beta)
What's new in 0.9.4
- New in Settings: choose between the Dark and Light themes — picking one previews it instantly across the whole app, OK keeps it, Cancel switches back. No restart needed. (The light theme is a first cut; polish is coming.)
- Tag labels now automatically use dark or light text based on the tag's color, so bright tags (yellow, lime) are finally readable.
- Playback and toolbar icons now match the color of the button they sit on (some previously rendered black).
- Adding a track or playlist to the scene that's currently playing no longer blasts it into the mix — it arrives with play mode off, ready to flip on when the moment's right. Adding to a stopped scene still defaults to on.
- Fixed: a repeating scene track no longer jumps back to full volume each time it loops — it stays at the level you set on its slider.
Installation
- Download the zip below, unzip it, and drag ScenicSound Manager.app into your Applications folder.

ScenicSound Manager 0.9.3 (beta)
What's new in 0.9.3
- Only one copy of the app can run at a time now — launching a second shows a reminder instead. Two copies sharing one library could corrupt it during a version upgrade, and the update prompt now reminds you to quit before installing a new version.
- The window remembers its size and position between launches (the soundboard already remembered its height, collapsed state, and popped-out position — now the window around it keeps up).

ScenicSound Manager 0.9.2 (beta)
What's new in 0.9.2
- The library now reminds you that you can drag audio files anywhere onto it to import them (small hint under the file table).
- Fixed the master volume starting at 0% on a fresh install — it now defaults to 100%.
- Creating tags is easier to find: a labeled Create new tag button sits next to Clear at the top of the tag filter (previously a small "+" icon below the tags).
- Tags selected in the filter now show a ✓ checkmark, so your active filter is easy to see on any tag color.

ScenicSound Manager 0.9.1 (beta)
What's new in 0.9.1
- AIFF support —
.aiff/.aiffiles now import like any other format (thanks to the beta tester who reported this!). Also fixed.opusfiles being hidden in the file-picker dialog. - Update notifications — the app now checks GitHub on launch and lets you know when a new version is available (with a Skip This Version option).
- Safer upgrades — the app automatically snapshots your library database before upgrading its format, and refuses to open a database written by a newer version instead of corrupting it.
- Send Feedback — new Help menu item that takes you straight to the feedback form.
- The app finally has an icon!
Installation
- Download the zip below, unzip it, and drag ScenicSound Manager.app into your Applications folder.
