Tuuli 1.2.0
Tuuli 1.2.0
Choosing what Tuuli shows is simpler. The Menu Bar page in Settings is now four lists, for the status item, the popover, its temperatures and its chart: drag rows into the order you like, switch off what you don't need, and add a temperature with the + row.
Right-click a mode in the sidebar to use, rename, duplicate or delete it. The same actions stay on the mode's page.
The Settings window now looks like a macOS 26 sidebar window, with the close, minimize and zoom buttons inside the sidebar. Check for Updates dims while a check is running.
Fan control works exactly as before, and the helper doesn't need to be installed again.
Tuuli 1.1.0
Tuuli 1.1.0
Tuuli now shares one design with Kaiku, Kiito, Mittari and Kello. The popover, the fan curve editor, Settings, onboarding and About are built from the same components as the other apps, so buttons, switches, cards and the settings window look and behave the same everywhere.
The popover shows temperatures in a shorter form, such as 64°, next to the fan modes and a new footer with Settings, a ⋯ menu for updates and Buy Me a Coffee, and Quit. Each custom mode now has its own page in Settings, where you can use, rename, duplicate or delete it.
The Transparency slider is gone, since the background it adjusted was replaced by the system glass. The updates switch and the version moved to About.
Fan control works exactly as before, and the helper doesn't need to be installed again.
Tuuli 1.0.0
Tuuli 1.0.0
Tuuli is now signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it like any other app. No more Gatekeeper warnings, no more trips to Privacy & Security, and no Terminal commands to clear the quarantine flag.
Tuuli can now keep itself up to date. On the second launch it asks whether you want it to check for updates automatically, and you can change your mind at any time in Settings under General. You can also check by hand with Check for Updates… in the menu bar popover or in Settings.
The app is now a universal build that runs natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. Support for Intel Macs is experimental: sensor and fan readings there haven't been tested on real hardware yet, so feedback is very welcome.
If Tuuli is useful to you, there's now a Buy Me a Coffee… item next to Check for Updates…, and a small link in Settings.
Updating from 0.1.x. Earlier versions have no updater, so please download this release once by hand and replace the old app in Applications. From here on, updates arrive on their own.
Fan control helper. Because Tuuli is now signed by a different team, the helper installed by earlier versions will refuse to talk to the new app. Tuuli notices this on launch and offers to update the helper; it asks for your administrator password once. You can also do it later from Settings under General with Update Helper…. Until the helper is updated, macOS stays in charge of the fans. Future updates keep the installed helper working, and Tuuli will offer to refresh it the same way whenever a new version needs a newer helper.
Tuuli 0.1.1
- Much lower CPU use: closed windows and the menu bar popover no longer keep redrawing in the background.
- Menu bar readings now use the system menu bar font, matching the clock.
- Removed the spinning menu bar icon for now.
Apple Silicon build, macOS 26 or later. Fan control needs a one-time helper install from the app (administrator password). The app is not notarized: on first launch open System Settings > Privacy & Security and click "Open Anyway", or run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Tuuli.app.
Tuuli 0.1.0
First release.
- Temperatures from every SMC sensor, grouped by category, with CPU, GPU, SSD and battery summaries.
- Fan modes: System, Auto Boost rules, a draggable Curve and Manual, plus your own named modes, with separate power adapter and battery settings.
- Menu bar readings in any order, a configurable popover with a mode picker and manual speed slider, and a fan icon that spins with the fans.
- History charts, threshold alerts and CSV logging.
- Fail-safe helper: fans go back to macOS when Tuuli quits, crashes, stops responding or the Mac sleeps.
