Console Overlay 1.3.0 is the biggest update so far. It also includes everything prepared as 1.2.1 (never released on its own).
New
- Settings redesigned: tabs on top, switches with a short help line under each option, and a search box.
- Switch to: with "End game" selected, press right to see your last 3 played games. Pick one and the current game closes and the new one opens behind a transition screen, with no desktop or Playnite flashing in between. Optional (Menu tab).
- Music card: shows what is playing (Spotify, SimpMusic, YouTube Music, VLC...) through Windows media controls. Controls are play/pause, previous/next, volume (L2/R2 or right stick), shuffle (Y) and repeat (R3) where the player supports them. The card uses the player's own icon and colour.
- Open music: when nothing is playing, the row launches your player (Spotify by default; add more in "Players to open", one per line as
Name|path). It opens minimized and you stay in the game. You can also close the player from the menu. - Achievements: a trophy by rarity on every row (bronze, silver, gold, platinum), trophy counters in the header, progress bars for partial ones and a gold highlight for unlocked ones. A platinum trophy shows on the main menu when you have them all.
- Pause the game when the menu opens is now a setting (on by default). Per game:
NoPause/NoOverlaytags. There is also an option to skip emulator games (RetroArch, PCSX2, DuckStation...). - New glass look, and numbered controller batteries (1 blue, 2 red, 3 green, 4 yellow).
- Button legends follow the controller style set in Playnite (Xbox / PlayStation / Nintendo).
- All 9 languages updated.
Improved
- Faster opening and closing, also when calling the menu repeatedly.
- Music apps opened from the menu are only minimized while the menu is open.
Fixed
- The menu could disappear after closing a music player.
- Possible freeze when returning to the game after closing a player. If the game is still suspended it is now resumed automatically, and the log records the state.
Install
Download the .pext and double-click it (or use Playnite's add-on browser). Optional: mpv for in-menu clip playback, see the README.
