#XML File Setup

There are two directories of XML (New and Old), of course we're using the "new" directory files, we have a series of tags that layers each poem's section, line, and then word.

<Poem id="1">
    <lg type="stanza" n="1" rhyme="royal">
        <l n="1">
            <seg type="word" me_root="person" pos="n">person</seg>
        </l>
    </lg>
</poem>

Each tag is described and defined in the section below added by Madison.

Hello Russell,

I've analyzed the Hoccleve XML files, and these are my notes:

Identified Tags: These were all used in at least one XML file: - 'poem', 'lg', 'l', 'seg', 'html', 'head', 'title', 'body', 'h1', 'p', 'hr', 'address'

Of these tags, the following are specific to TEI standards:
    - 'poem', 'lg', 'l', 'seg'

Identified Attributes: id : The poem's identification name and number. Appears at the top of an xml file.

type : Denotes the structural purpose of a given block.
                  Either "stanza" or "word".

n : Marks the stanza number if prefaced by type="stanza" and the line number otherwise.

rhyme : This labels a given stanza's rhyme scheme.
                  It will always be listed inside of an <lg> tag and will be prefaced by tyep="stanza".
                  The only rhyme schemes used are: 'royal', 'ababbcbc', 'aabaabbab', 'ababbcc', 'ababbcbbc', 'aa'.

me_root : Shows the midieval root of a given word.
                  Always occurs within a <seg> tag prefaced by type="word".

pos        :   Part of speech.
                   There are many specific types which are indexed, and their categorization should be discussed further.
                   For example there are many varieties of nouns; some denoted by 'n', and others denoted with modifiers like 'n%pl'.

As far as I can tell, there are no collisions between this and the existing TEI. I thought about using the ROMA tool to create an official TEI modification, but I think that is unnecessary. (Details about ROMA can be found here: http://www.tei-c.org/Guidelines/Customization/use_roma.xml)

Also, I wrote a small program to parse out all of the attributes and tags used in every XML file. I have attached it for reference.

Is there anything else you would like me to cover?
