Dicter au clavier

Maintenez le raccourci « Dicter », parlez, relâchez : le texte s'écrit là où se
trouve le curseur, dans n'importe quelle app.

• Sur le Mac — la reconnaissance vocale d'Apple tourne en local : rien n'est
  envoyé pour transcrire.
• Nettoyé, pas réécrit — le modèle de votre choix (Claude, ou un modèle
  local Ollama) ponctue, retire les « euh » et les reprises, sans reformuler.
  Choisissez « Brut » pour coller la transcription telle quelle.
• Au fil de la parole — une forme d'onde suit votre voix, et les mots
  s'affichent pendant que vous parlez.
• Deux langues — un raccourci par langue, français et anglais par défaut.
  « Dicter » est sur ⌃⌥⌘Espace, l'autre langue se règle dans Réglages → Raccourcis.
• Rien ne se perd — les 50 dernières dictées restent dans Réglages → Dictée,
  brutes et nettoyées. Si le modèle échoue, c'est la transcription qui est collée.

Le geste

• Mains libres — un appui court verrouille l'écoute : parlez sans tenir la
  touche, le prochain appui termine et colle. Échap annule.
• Une touche seule — vous pouvez dicter sur ⌥, ⌘, ⇧ ou ⌃ de droite, tenue
  seule, comme sur un dictaphone (Réglages → Raccourcis). La touche de gauche
  garde son rôle habituel.
• La musique se met en pause — ce qui joue s'arrête pendant que vous parlez,
  et reprend tout seul. Seulement ce que Claudio a mis en pause.

Ce que la dictée devient

• Votre vocabulaire — noms propres, jargon, termes maison : une ligne par
  terme dans Réglages → Dictée, entendu → écrit pour corriger une graphie.
• Une sortie par raccourci — nettoyer (par défaut), traduire en anglais, ou
  structurer en prompt. Parlez en français, collez en anglais.
• Dicter l'instruction — sur le raccourci de l'action libre, maintenez pour
  dire ce que Claudio doit faire de la sélection au lieu de le taper.
• Recoller une dictée — les cinq dernières sont dans le menu de la barre de
  menus, un clic les recolle.

Au premier usage, macOS demande l'accès au micro puis à la reconnaissance vocale.
Si la langue n'est pas installée sur le Mac, le panneau ouvre le bon réglage.

« Traduire en anglais » demande Claude ou un modèle solide : les petits modèles
locaux répondent souvent en français.

Placer les fenêtres au clavier

Onze raccourcis sur ⌃⌥⌘ pour ranger la fenêtre de devant, sans la souris :

• Moitiés — flèches ← ↑ ↓ →
• Maximiser — ↩
• Coins — 7 / 9 / 1 / 3 (rang du haut ou pavé numérique)
• Centrer — 5 (rang du haut ou pavé numérique)
• Écran suivant — ⇟ (page ↓, soit fn + ↓ sur un MacBook)

Le passage d'un écran à l'autre garde la place de la fenêtre : une moitié reste
une moitié, une maximisée reste maximisée, même entre deux écrans de tailles et
de proportions différentes.

Activé par défaut. Un commutateur maître dans Réglages → Raccourcis libère
toutes ces touches d'un coup si vous préférez un autre outil.

Local models with Ollama

An action can run on a local model. Settings → Prompts: next to Haiku, Sonnet and Opus, the picker now lists the models served by your Ollama instance, on the Mac or on the local network. The address is set in Settings → Ollama. A local action costs nothing and sends nothing outside.

The panel says who answered. At the bottom left, the name of the model that produced the result.

Since 1.7.0 as well

• History of free instructions, rerunnable from the menu bar.
• Readable bulleted output, and the palette carries its own title.
• The panel opens centered at a stable initial size, and grows without jolts.

Settings written before this version load unchanged.

Claudio 1.7.0

Claudio in person

He is in the menu bar. No longer a mustache borrowed from Apple's catalog: his own drawing, the one from the icon, reduced to a monochrome template that follows the Mac's theme. Same thing at the top of the panel, where the badge gives way to the character.

His gaze says where he is. Four states, one per phase: eye open while waiting, eyes closed while the answer arrives, smiling eyes once pasted, full eyeballs when he can do nothing: no selection, no key, an error.

Four and not six, because at menu-bar size the eyeball is two and a half points. Moving a pupil in there does not say "he is looking elsewhere", it says "his eyes are crooked". So each state changes silhouette, not gaze direction.

Nothing else moves: same actions, same shortcuts, same palette, same settings.

Claudio speaks English

Settings → General → Language. System, Français, English. Everything follows: the menu-bar menu, the palette, the panel, Settings, permission alerts and error messages. Amounts too: "0,01 $" on one side, "$0.01" on the other.

On System, Claudio follows the Mac's language, and falls back to English wherever it is not French. The setting can contradict the machine: a French Mac can show Claudio in English, and the reverse.

What Claude returns does not change. The answer always stays in the language of the selected text, whatever the interface language. The default prompts are written in French and ask for that explicitly, which the Prompts panel now explains.

Claudio 1.5.2

The palette no longer picks on its own

The panel no longer opens under the pointer. It lands under the cursor and grows downward; reaching the bottom edge of the screen, it moved up to fit, and a nine-row palette is tall enough to end up over the pointer. The row covered that way believed it was hovered the second the panel appeared: the selection jumped to it without the hand moving, and ⏎ ran something other than the highlighted row. Near the bottom of the screen, that row is the ninth, the custom action. The panel now picks its side, below, above, or to the left if it fits nowhere, so the cursor always stays outside. And in the palette, hovering only selects once the pointer is moving.

Settings → Shortcuts: the empty row is gone. A separator line took a whole row under "Action palette…".

Claudio 1.5.1

Palette digits finally run their rows

Every palette row carries its number in front of it. Until now, typing that number wrote it into the filter instead of running the action: you had to hold ⌘, which nothing really indicated. The rank promised something it did not keep.

From now on 1 to 9 run the row of the same number, directly, as long as nothing has been typed. As soon as input starts, digits become characters again ("summarize in 3 sentences" must stay writable) and ⌘1 to ⌘9 take over. The hint at the bottom of the panel shows whichever of the two is active: the promise holds at every moment.

On an AZERTY keyboard, the digit is typed with ⇧, as everywhere else. With ⌘, the key position is enough: the top row is where it is everywhere else.

A window that glides, a text you can read

The panel no longer jumps. On a slightly long answer, the window grew in fits and starts, one line after another. Two reasons: the text was republished for every fragment received from the API, several dozen per second, each one triggering a full layout pass that got heavier as the answer grew, and the window followed with a jump. Fragments are now batched, and the height is interpolated: the panel glides to its size instead of reaching it in jumps.

The text size is adjustable. Settings → General → Panel: four sizes, from Small to Extra large. The result, the free instruction and the palette actions follow, and the panel widens with them so lines are not squeezed to three words. Ranks, icons and shortcuts keep their size: they are landmarks, not reading.

Claudio 1.4.0

Action palette, ⌃⌥⌘K

Nine shortcuts to memorize was Claudio's entry fee. Not anymore: ⌃⌥⌘K opens the panel on the full list of actions, right next to the pointer, with the selection already captured.

• Filter as you type: three letters are enough, accents and case ignored. "trans eng" finds the translation to English.
• Run by number: ⌘1 to ⌘9, or ↑↓ then ⏎.
• Nothing matches? The last row takes what you typed as a free instruction, and if you typed nothing, it asks for the instruction as before.
• Today's spend shows in the header while you choose (if the counter is enabled in Settings).

Direct shortcuts do not move: they remain the fast path for the actions you have in your fingers. The palette is there for all the others, and for the days you no longer remember which one does what.

The palette is also reachable from the menu-bar menu, at the top of the list, and its shortcut can be changed in Settings → Shortcuts.

Custom action, ⌃⌥⌘D

• A ninth action, with no fixed prompt: the panel first asks for the instruction, then applies it to the selection. "Translate to Spanish", "make it bullet points", "cut it in half": everything the eight catalog actions do not cover.
• Same cycle as the others: ⏎ confirms the instruction, then pastes the result; Esc cancels at any time.
• Also available in the menu-bar menu, under "Custom action…".

Spend counter

• Settings → General shows what you have spent today, computed from the tokens the API actually bills, not an estimate.
• The counter restarts every day, can be reset by hand, and can be switched off if you do not want it.
• Everything is computed on your Mac. Nothing is sent anywhere, and the authoritative count remains the one at console.anthropic.com.

Pricing

• The amounts shown in Settings now come from Anthropic's public prices per million tokens (Haiku 4.5 $1 / $5, Sonnet 5 $2 / $10, Opus 5 $5 / $25) instead of hand-written estimates. A hundred short actions cost about $0.12 with Haiku, $0.24 with Sonnet, $0.60 with Opus.

Under the hood

• The executed action and the catalog entry are now two distinct things, which is what made the free instruction possible. No custom setting is lost.
• First automated tests: token budgets, request building, and token-to-dollar computation.
