Sayso 0.5.2 - call it anything
Call it anything. Give Sayso any name (Jarvis, Nova, Friday...) in setup or Settings > Change & test, say ", hello" once, and see " is ready to drive!". Nothing is typed during the test.
- If it hears you but not the name, it shows what it heard so you can retry or pick a more distinct name.
- Fix: a custom name could be dropped by the speech model ("Jarvis, hello" heard as "Hello."). It now listens again without the hint.
- Names that are too short or common words are refused.
- README: limits and how updating works.
Updating: run the new SaysoSetup.exe over the old one - no uninstall. Settings are kept.
Tested on Windows in CI: install, self-test, 20/20 end-to-end checks in a real Notepad (including renaming to "Jarvis"), and upgrade over a running copy.
Sayso 0.5.1 - tested on real Windows
Sayso 0.5.1 - tested end to end on real Windows
Every build is now tested on a real Windows machine before release: the installer is run, the installed Sayso checks itself, and test phrases spoken by the Windows voice have to show up correctly in Notepad (16 checks). A release only gets its installer if all of that passes.
Fixed
- "Say something...", "Stay safe", "Save the file" no longer wake Sayso by accident
- After switching apps ("Sayso, open Notepad") the next words could vanish into the menu bar - fixed
- Copied pictures and files are kept on the clipboard when Sayso types
- Works with non-English keyboard layouts (Ctrl+V, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+Z by key code)
- Dictation mode no longer drops words while it is typing
- No internet on first run or no mic plugged in: Sayso keeps retrying instead of giving up
- Remembers your mic by name and reconnects if it is unplugged
- AI edits never press Ctrl+C in a terminal
- The status bubble never takes the cursor away from your app
- Ctrl+click and Ctrl+scroll no longer trigger hold-to-talk
- Tells you when Windows blocks typing into an admin window
- Installing an update while Sayso is running now works

Sayso 0.5 - AI voice actions
Sayso 0.5 - the smart update
AI on your voice
- "Sayso, make that more professional" - rewrites what you selected, or what Sayso just typed
- "Sayso, translate this to Spanish", "fix the grammar", "summarize this"
- "Sayso, write a reply saying I'll be there at 5" - select their message first for context
- Free and private with Ollama or LM Studio on your PC (found automatically), or your own OpenAI / Claude / Groq key, encrypted by Windows
Smarter typing
- Fits the app: lower-case commands with no full stop in terminals, no trailing full stop in chat apps
- Pause mid-sentence and it carries on in lower case
- Dictation mode: "Sayso, start dictation" and just talk until "that's all"
- "Sayso, what can I say" opens the command list
Nicer to use
- A small status bubble above the taskbar shows listening / working / what was typed, without stealing focus
- Uses an NVIDIA graphics card when there is one, falls back to the CPU otherwise
- The download page no longer asks you to sign in

New
- Reads like you typed it: drops "um/uh", adds capitals, understands spoken punctuation ("comma", "question mark", "new paragraph").
- Your words: teach Sayso names and terms ("gear with AI" → GearWithAI). They also help it hear them right.
- Snippets: "Sayso, insert my email".
- Your own voice commands: map any phrase to keys, text, a web page or a program in
commands.json. Starter packs in /packs. - Any language: dictate in 90+ languages (Settings → Language).
- History: your last 20 dictations on the Home tab. Click one to copy it. Stored only on your PC.
