GTA2 RTX Remix v0.7.1

A Direct3D 9 renderer for GTA2 that lets RTX Remix path trace the game.

What's new

• fixed an issue where the intro movie would crash the game on startup

• Translation of the games lights plus generating of lights from game events such as explosions, fires, gunfire
• Dynamic time of day (Remix Plus only)
• Emissive maps for some of the game's textures, shipped as a Remix mod

Requirements

• GTA2 v9.6 (freeware)
• RTX Remix for x86 games. Recommended: Remix Plus 1.5.1, file Remix_Plus_v1.5.1_x86_games_release.zip. NVIDIA's RTX Remix and Remix Plus 1.4 also work, with limits: NVIDIA's has no day/night cycle, and on any version other than Remix Plus 1.5.1 the menus and HUD may not display correctly.
• Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit

RTX Remix is not included.

Installing

1. Back up d3ddll.dll and Dmavideo.dll from your GTA2 folder.
2. Unzip into the GTA2 folder and let it replace those two files. When updating from an earlier version, let it replace everything.
3. Start gta2.exe.

GTA2 RTX Remix v0.7.0

• added lights to car fires including a flicker effect
• pickup emissives expanded to all pickups so they are visible even in dark light scenarios
• fixed an issue where cars would hop when above another sprite (such as smoke during acceleration)
• skid marks, blood trails and blood are now not floating anymore (blood enabled by default, disable in gta2dx9.ini)
• fixed issues with cars clipping through geometry
