This is the first public release.

Genex works with:
- Local models: Ollama, or a Bonsai model downloaded in Settings (Apple Silicon).
- Claude models: Claude Code, installed separately and signed in with a Claude subscription.
- ChatGPT/Codex models: the Codex CLI, installed separately.
A Genex account is only needed for asset generation, credits and hosted publishing. Genex sends no analytics or crash reports. The anonymous build metrics in Settings → Privacy are off unless you turn them on. See PRIVACY.md.
Updates
- macOS: Genex checks for new versions in the background, downloads them, and shows Relaunch to update in the sidebar. Install from
/Applications; a copy run from the open DMG can't update itself. - Linux: the sidebar shows Download Genex X when a new release is out. Install the new
.debor.rpmover the old one. - Everyone: Check for Updates is in Settings → About and in the app menu.
Upgrading from a pre-release (rc.1 or rc.3)? Those builds never check for updates. Install 0.1.0 from this page by hand. Your games and settings stay where they are.
Known limitations
- macOS on Intel is untested.
- Linux: window controls and Ubuntu 24.04's sandbox restriction are still open.
- Claude Code and Codex keep their own sign-ins and are installed separately.
