OpenLiveSlide

Open-source interactive presentations — an AhaSlides-style platform for running polls, quizzes, Q&A, and word clouds with a live audience.

Status: early scaffolding. Milestone 1 (monorepo bootstrap) complete; interaction features land in subsequent milestones.

Local development

Prerequisites: Node 20+, pnpm 9+, Docker.

Self-host (production)

This brings up Postgres, Redis, runs prisma migrate deploy, then starts the standalone Next.js bundle on :3000 and the realtime gateway on :4000. Both apps run as non-root users and restart on failure.

For TLS or scaling beyond a single node, terminate HTTPS at a reverse proxy (Caddy/Nginx/Cloudflare Tunnel) and point both NEXTAUTH_URL and NEXT_PUBLIC_REALTIME_URL at the public hostname. The realtime tier auto-clusters via the Redis adapter, so multiple realtime replicas behind a load balancer share rooms transparently.
