Scene Mode
This release introduces the new Scene Mode, important resource management improvements, and enhances core AR functionalities.
๐ New Features
- Scene Mode (
mode="scene"):- Define 3D scenes directly in HTML using primitive elements like
<kitcore-webar-box>,<kitcore-webar-sphere>,<kitcore-webar-cylinder>, and<kitcore-webar-plane>. - Initially displays the scene in an interactive 3D viewer with orbit controls.
- Includes an AR button (auto-generated or custom
kitcore-webar-button) to seamlessly transition the entire defined scene into an immersive WebXR AR experience, anchored to your starting position.
- Define 3D scenes directly in HTML using primitive elements like
โจ Enhancements
- Improved AR Stability: Refinements to the AR session lifecycle and rendering loop for smoother experiences across all AR modes (Floor, Wall, GPS, Anchors, and Scene).
- GPS/Anchor Object Handling: Better management and updates for objects in GPS and Anchors modes, including reliable
lookatuserbehavior. - Placement Feedback: More robust hit-testing feedback during object placement in Floor and Wall modes.
๐ Fixes
- Geolocation Cleanup: Implemented proper cleanup for
navigator.geolocation.watchPositioninstances. Active location watchers started when usingenableGPSorenableAnchorsare now correctly removed when the<kitcore-webar>component is disconnected from the DOM, preventing potential resource leaks and background activity.
Updates on viewer mode
New features
- Multiple objects supported
- New button to enter AR mode
- new attribute to disable AR and just use the viewer
AR Experience Enhancements: New Attributes, Anchors Mode & Native UI Integration
Enhanced Object Manipulation:
Added new attributes rotate, scale, and positionate to control whether objects can be rotated, scaled, and repositioned (via tap after initial placement).
Look-At User Feature:
Introduced the lookatuser attribute for GPS and anchors modes, ensuring objects automatically face the user for an improved interactive experience.
Altitude Control:
Added the altitude attribute for GPS and anchors modes, enabling precise adjustments to the object's height in the AR environment.
Anchors Mode:
Implemented a new anchors mode using WebXR Anchors, providing more stable and accurate object placement.
Native UI Integration:
Transitioned to using the WebXR API's dom-overlay feature for rendering UI, replacing the previous Three.js-based approach for a more seamless integration.
๐ KitCore WebAR - v0.0.1
First Public Release of KitCore WebAR
KitCore WebAR is a lightweight JavaScript library for creating Web-based Augmented Reality (WebAR) experiences using WebXR Device API and Three.js. This library allows developers to integrate AR functionality easily, supporting multiple placement modes, including surface detection and GPS-based positioning.
๐ Features in v1.0.0
๐น Floor & Wall Modes - Detect and place objects on flat or vertical surfaces using WebXR.
๐น GPS Mode - Position objects based on real-world latitude/longitude.
๐น Viewer Mode - Displays 3D models with AR Quick Look (iOS) and Scene Viewer (Android) support.
๐น Dynamic Object Loading - Load GLTF/GLB models dynamically.
๐น WebXR Integration - Works with immersive AR sessions for supported devices.
