@github-actions github-actions released this 15 Oct 14:51

Release Notes

Fixed

  • Typing } in a read-only LaTeX document after \begin{ and a letter of more than one byte (\begin{ä) no longer panics the editor.
  • Exporting an Org document whose title holds its own title macro (#+TITLE: a{{{title}}}), or a macro whose arguments grow at each expansion, no longer runs forever: it stops with "Circular macro expansion", as Emacs does for other cycles (Emacs 30 itself loops on these).

@github-actions github-actions released this 15 Oct 14:38

Release Notes

Fixed

  • In Org, Remove Link (Doom's SPC m l d) leaves the cursor at the start of the text that replaces the link, as Doom does, where it kept its old offset and could land inside a character of the description ([[a][😀]]), which then panicked the editor.

Release Notes

Fixed

@github-actions github-actions released this 15 Oct 13:55

Release Notes

Changed

  • Finding a LaTeX document's root no longer reads the type of each entry of every folder above it one by one: on a file under a folder of 60,000 entries, Show Problems, Next Problem, the problems' update and Build PDF's start took 190 ms each for the search, now 35 to 60 ms (release build); under a home folder of ordinary size it takes about a millisecond.

Fixed

  • In Org, a date typed for a deadline or a schedule with a word ending in a character of more than one byte (friday /😀) no longer panics the editor.
  • In an Org tags or property match (agenda, sparse tree), a time such as "<+1é>", a relative time ending in a character of more than one byte, no longer panics the editor.

@github-actions github-actions released this 15 Oct 13:34

Release Notes

Added

  • Plugin API 0.2.21, the export executor (the world extension-executor, kalem-plugin's feature executor): a plugin runs the source blocks of the languages its manifest declares ("executors": [{"language": "ledger", "headers": ":results output :cmdline bal"}]), as an ob-LANG.el library does for Emacs, under Babel's rules (the language named in babel.load_languages, the yes or no question, :eval). Its prepare answers with a program its manifest grants (subprocess:NAME), which Kalem runs beside the editor in the block's folder, or with the block's value at once; its finish turns the program's output into text, a list, a table, or output read as Org reads a shell's, which Kalem writes under #+RESULTS: as Org writes it. The language's headers come first among the block's header arguments, as org-babel-default-header-args:LANG do; a block's variables reach the plugin as text, lists and tables.
  • Babel on export, as Emacs's org-export-use-babel does it (the setting export.use_babel, on): before an export, from the editor or kalem export, the source blocks whose results it shows (:exports results or both) run in order on a copy of the text, under the rules of a run by hand (their language in babel.load_languages, Kalem's yes or no question, :eval never-export and no-export refusing, query-export asking), and the export reads the copy; the file itself is not changed. A block of a language not loaded is left with Emacs's warning. The editor runs them beside it and writes the export when the last ends; kalem export asks on the terminal, a no where it cannot ask. The HTML of a file with such blocks is Emacs's own (tests/babel_emacs.rs against tools/babel-export-oracle.el).

Fixed

  • With Vim's keys, text typed in Insert mode after the cursor moved (an arrow, Home, End, a page key, with a modifier or without, or a click) is what . repeats and what the ". register holds, in both editors, as in Vim: ifoo<Left>bar<Esc> then . inserts "bar", as i would whatever began the insert, where the editors repeated nothing. As in Vim, the move forgets the count of 3i, Esc right after it leaves . and ". with the text typed before it, a move that did not move the cursor (Left at the start of a line) changes nothing, Home and End end the insert even with the cursor there already, an indent 'autoindent' gave goes when the cursor leaves its line untouched, U undoes the line typed on last, and CTRL-O's command ends the insert so far and its count too.

@github-actions github-actions released this 15 Oct 12:41

Release Notes

Fixed

  • A project written into projects.toml by hand through a link (macOS's /tmp, a link to a synced folder) holds its files: Kalem compared their real paths with the link's, so the project's last file and listing and the changes other programs make in its folder (a Logseq graph's, which the graph plugin follows) were never seen. The list takes the folder the link leads to, under the name written.
  • In the terminal, a Markdown heading in a list item or a quote (- ## Notes, as Logseq writes a heading block, or > ## Quoted) shows its bullet or > first and its text in the heading's look, as the window draws it, where the level's mark came before the bullet (○ - Notes).

@github-actions github-actions released this 15 Oct 12:00

Release Notes

Changed

  • A plugin's panel reads its long lines whole, in both editors: a text too long for the panel goes on over the lines below at its widget's indent (an entry's past its arrow), four lines at most, then ends in an ellipsis; a row's widgets that do not fit side by side go below. In the terminal the panel at the side grows past 36 columns on a wide screen (a third of it, 48 at most), scrolls with the wheel and marks the lines above and below it, and a click on any line of a button, an entry, a checkbox or an input reaches the plugin, as in the window. In both editors the panel takes the keys from a click on it away from its widgets, or from moving the focus toward it from the pane beside it (Vim's Ctrl+W and Doom's SPC w with h toward the terminal's panel at the left, l toward the window's at the right, j toward one at the bottom): the arrows, j and k choose among the widgets one acts on, Enter or l acts, Page Up and Page Down scroll, Escape or the move back gives the keys back. For the graph plugin's backlinks, whose long references were cut at the panel's edge.

Fixed

  • With Vim's keys, Esc no longer panics after text typed in Insert mode before the place the insert began (a character of more than one byte typed after Home, or after Alt with an arrow); Home, End, Page Up and Page Down there start the insert again where the cursor lands, as the arrows do.
  • In an Org table, Enter (to the next row) in a field that starts with a character of more than one byte (|😀 |) no longer panics: it goes on by a character, as Emacs does, not by a byte.

@github-actions github-actions released this 15 Oct 11:06

Release Notes

Fixed

  • Typing with several cursors in a read-only document or a folder listing no longer moves the cursors to where the refused text would have left them, past the text or inside a character, where the terminal editor then panicked (a CSV grid's formula bar, the Org syntax tree's "Bad offset").
  • With Vim's keys, a block selection over text shortened by a key Vim leaves to the editor (Shift+Delete in the terminal) no longer panics the terminal editor when drawn: its ends past the text, or inside a character, are the character they are in.
  • Typing : on an Org heading of stars only (* ) no longer panics the editor.
  • In Org, Enter in Vim's Normal mode (Doom's RET, Act at Cursor) on the bullet of a list's first item toggles its checkbox as it does elsewhere on the line: the inList context is true there, as org-at-item-p is.
  • With Vim's keys, Home, End, Page Up and Page Down in Normal and Visual mode are Vim's 0, $, CTRL-B and CTRL-F, in both editors: End and Page Down left the cursor past the last character of the line, where x deleted nothing and i typed after that character.

Release Notes

Added

  • Babel runs source blocks as Emacs's Org does, its security as well, the owner's decision: Execute Source Block (Enter in Vim's Normal mode, SPC c e, C-c C-c in the Emacs keymap) runs the shell or Python block at the cursor beside the editor and writes its #+RESULTS: in the bytes Org 9.7 writes, compared block by block with Emacs's own output of the same file (tests/babel_emacs.rs): tables, : lines, example blocks, lists; :results output and value, table, list, verbatim, raw, code, drawer, silent, none, append and prepend; :wrap; :var with numbers, strings and the document's named tables, lists and examples; :dir; the header-args properties and #+HEADER: lines. Only the languages babel.load_languages names run (shell, python; none by default), each run asks yes or no first unless babel.confirm_evaluate is off, and a block's :eval refuses or asks as in Emacs; nothing runs when a file opens. A program's error output opens in *Org-Babel Error Output*; babel.python_command names the Python (python where installed, else python3).

@github-actions github-actions released this 15 Oct 09:44

Release Notes

Fixed

  • With Vim's keys, counts of nine digits and more no longer run Kalem out of memory or hold it for seconds: R's count and a visual shift's (v999999999>) fail past 10 MiB of text as an insert's does, and a visual <, ), *, #, cw, the sentence objects is and as and a counted v stop where they go no further. Neither do gqq, a block change or ap and ip on a line past those Vim counts (after a text's last line was emptied, or after gv reselected lines a put had replaced) panic or go on for ever, and gp with nothing to put leaves the cursor where it is. Found by random keys run through the Vim layer.
